5 months progress w/pics and good news!

I've been quite busy these past few months, but I'm finally getting around to posting some progress pics. Just to recap, I got my uppers on 3/5/06 and lowers 3/15/06 with an initial estimated treatment time of 12-14 months. I had some pretty bad crowding on my lower teeth, and some minor crowding on...

As a frequent flyer for work (52k+ miles already this year and 6 months to go still!) I've found that most plane food is pretty easy to eat. If your first adjustment is on the 27th and you're travelling right before that, I think it's safe to say that your teeth won't be sore anymore by then. I can ...

New post today. I haven't posted lately because there really hasn't been too much to report. To answer your question, I got Damon 2's on the bottom because that's what my ortho recommended. I've heard her assistants say that they like working with the Damon 3's better, but I guess the 2's work bette...

The only person who could give you the "real" answer to your question would be your ortho. The rest of us would just be speculating, as no two peoples' treatments seem to be the same. Maybe your ortho is just used to dealing with younger kids who don't care whats going on with their treatm...

So, you suggest me to have braces on the top and on the bottom? I would also like to know, if you get used 100% to braces and elastics? Because a friend of mine who had to wear elastics for 6 months complained about them all the time. Well I can't really speak on elastics, because I don't have them...

I remember the months leading up to getting braces for me were a mix of anxiety and excitement (I had records made Dec '05 and didn't get braced until just last week, so I had a few months to stew on it). I was nervous because I was getting big metal things glued on my teeth with wires running throu...

First off, definitely go get some consultations. Most are free, and I think you'll be surprised by how sincere and candid some orthodontists can be. They probably will all recommend you to get braces, but it's not just because they want your money. Their job is to help you have the healthiest teeth ...

I like ACT anticavity fluoride rinse. My ortho recommended that I use some sort of fluoride rinse.

I use Biotene, which is SLS free. This supposedly helps reduce canker sores. I have no idea if it's true, but I figure it can't hurt.

My dental insurance doesn't cover adult orthodontics, so I paid in full at my first appointment. My employer has what's called a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). I believe there are similar programs under different names, like Health Savings Accounts. Basically back in November during the open-seaso...

I had 3 consultations before I picked an orthodontist, all of them free, but with varying degrees of thoroughness. Two of the orthodontists just sat me in a chair and examined my teeth, then discussed my options with me. A third orthodontist went so far as to take pictures and X-rays, however was ve...

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. As someone who just got braces on, I can only offer so much advice. You just have to remember that in the end you'll have straighter and healthier teeth for the rest of your life. I totally understand being uncomfortable in public. Even though my fri...

rockexrolloh: the waterpik I'm referring to is actually made by interplak and can be found here . It's kinda like a power washer for your teeth. It shoots very powerful little pulses of water out the nozzle to blast away any little bits of food stuck between your teeth or around your brackets. It's ...

Hi Hannah, I just got my lower braces on yesterday too (my uppers were put on about 1.5weeks earlier). My next appointment is also on May 11, what a coincidence :) My orthodontist told me that with the Damon style braces, I only have to come in every 8-10 weeks. I don't know what type of braces you ...
