My "financing" was the same as KJM's. My ortho required $1100 down and monthly payments of around $100. No credit check was involved, but I signed a contract. I suppose most orthos figure you're not going to default since you're wearing what's been financed and it needs to be maintained ev...

I've certainly heard several people say they've had extractions done after getting their braces on. However, it's usually in cases where the ortho wants to see if things will move and align with the braces before extracting. I had two bicuspids extracted, got braced, and now may need my upper two ex...

poloaa , don't let your fears or feelings of guilt prevent you from doing this for yourself!! I bet your family will change their tune when your teeth are all straight and pretty. They'll probably say "You should've done this a long time ago!" And I bet some of it is that they feel bad th...

Yes, it is very strange and sometimes hard to get used to! Mine are very, very loose, too. But only some teeth are loose, not all. Right now, my lower front teeth are extremely loose. It's kinda freaky!! They almost seem to "bend" like rubberbands -- or, at least, that's how it feels. Ew :-(

I hope so too! I really don't want to leave it in the rotated position so that my arch will be nice and symmetrical. I'll definitely ask next week at my appointment.

Very nice, alexa! I'm loving the blue, and think I'm going to get blue at my first adjustment next week. I have silver right now and my teeth are still pretty crooked, but might as well live it up, right?!?

My insurance wouldn't cover it since they were ortho extractions. Mine cost $114 per tooth, so $228 total.

Congrats on your banding date!! And welcome to the board :-) I'll second what's already been said -- the weirdest part for me was feeling these metal protrusions when the cheek retractor was removed. And the dry lips felt strange too. Hmm...advice? Be prepared for that second day!!! At least for me,...

Sounds like your cleaning routine is pretty reasonable to me! Mine is a little more involved, but I'm paranoid about getting cavities. I won't bore you with the details ;-). I do use a Sonicare for brushing, and highly recommend it if you can afford it. Otherwise, make sure you're holding your brush...

You said your 2nd molar, right? Dr. J said sometimes orthos don't like to move 2nd molars because it "opens up a can of worms" to quote him. It is my 2nd molar that's rotated. Hmm....I really wonder now if my ortho is planning to leave it alone then?! :? What your ortho said makes sense, ...

Hi maddiesmom , This happened to me with a lower molar about 2 weeks after my braces went on. The ortho's instructions were to try and get the wire back into the bracket if at all possible using tweezers or my fingers. My back brackets have little "tubes" so it was fairly easy -- with some...

Thanks, KK and Mackenzie -- I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! Though....now I'm even more preoccupied with it because it sounds like my ortho should've put the bracket on in a different way so that the tooth can rotate. I don't have molar bands, and since the tooth is already rotated a full 90 degree...

Funny "discovery"

I'm laughing out loud at myself right now because I guess I don't have much of an eye for detail  I just realized for the first time ever -- and, mind you, I spend a good hour or two a day staring at my teeth! -- that my 2nd molar on the bottom (which is actually my last tooth in the arch sinc...
