I waterpik first to get all the big crud out.
Then I floss with my superfloss.
Then I waterpik to get all the flossed junk out.
Then I brush with my sonicare.

Getting close - but not asking...
Every time I go in to the ortho they mention that my treatment is going faster then they expected. They are now doing detailing, which after searching this board, I would assume means they are in the final stages before removal. Am I the only one who just plain doesn't ask about the timeline? I've h...

Whoa - Progress
So I got in a huge argument with my husband this past weekend. Huge. Why am I mentioning this? Because somewhere in the middle of the argument I was pretty angry, and between my angry sentences I had my mouth closed tightly. and right there, in the middle of this argument, I realized that my lips cl...

I got a super cool makeover right after getting braces and we talked about what color lipstick is best... and I assume ligs would be the same principle. Purple, as mentioned above, has a tendency to bring out the yellow in your teeth, so that might be bad. Pink tends to make the teeth look whiter. I...

I don't think my issue is specific to the powerchain, but the other day my husband told me that ever since I got my braces I have a slurring problem.
I guess it's present all the time, but definitely more noticable when I am tired.
Whatever!

You don't mention a waterpik (or maybe I missed it?)
Anyways - my teeth never look or feel clean to me unless I use my waterpik. It doesn't matter how much I brush, floss and rinse, they just don't seem clean.
But the waterpik, man, that does the trick!

Also keep in mind that just because your teeth moved does not mean you are ready for the next appointment. After the teeth move the root of the tooth needs time to catch up. If the roots are moved too quickly they decrease in size, and you can start to lose teeth if it is done too quickly or too muc...

I have absolute confidence in my ortho, and so far every appointment has been either six or eight weeks apart. It's pretty weird, the first week will be a little uncomfortable and then it feels fine, but then a couple weeks later my teeth feel uncomfortable again, like the treatment just continues w...

Mostly I think that sounds like a bunch of hooey... but then I think about my treatment. My ortho is totally surprised at how much progress my teeth have made, and I'm pretty sure it's because I took up swimming at the same time I got braces. Think of it - swimming requires your mouth to be closed i...

Yeah, I was told to take them out prior to eating, and then put on a new pair of elastics after eating.
I'm supposed to be changing out my elastics at least 3-4 times each day.
I couldn't imagine eating with elastics in, how irritating!

Chris - getting the wire removed makes it easier for the dentist to clean. I'm sure they do a great job either way, but I figure it just helps them get all the nooks and crannies. My ortho recommended it, as did my dentist. So my adjustment next week will take up most of my day... in the morning I g...

Funny, I was just thinking that! I am completely bored with my braces. Bored. There is nothing exciting about my treatment anymore, it's been seven months and it's just the same old same old. They closed the gap in my front teeth, but haven't gotten to the gap a little further back... I'm hoping we ...

That happens to me. I've noticed that mine happens a lot more often since I got braced - but it only seems to happen when I am stressed about something. Whenever the external stress goes away and I calm down then it seems to get better really quick. So in my case it's probably a combination of stres...

One word... or is it two? Water Pik! This amazing thing has been a total lifesaver for me as I eat various things. No matter what I eat, no matter how gunked up my braces are, a minute or two with my water pik has everything washed out! :) It's pretty gross when you eat a salad or something at lunch...

Who is this stranger in the mirror?
It's really strange... I've had braces for three months, and there has been substantial change in my overjet/overbite. And now I don't know who I am looking at in the mirror. I see a woman whose teeth are not the first thing you notice about her (well, as long as you ignore the braces)... it's just ...
