Yep, pretty much confirms what I thought about it being a stop of some description.
I think the idea is to use the space from an old extraction a few teeth along.

Hi everyone So I m coming up to 3 weeks of top braces I have been researching everything about what each part of the brace is and what it does But this little guy, right at the front.. I got the portable one and it's been great, everything feels so much cleaner. I m not sure what to expect with the bottom braces but I think they are going to be a lot more painful then the top as the teeth are set closer to the inside of my mouth... Anyway it will be definitely worth it in the long...

My portable waterpik arrived today,wohoo!!! it's been one week since my top braces were fitted. Looking forward to testing it out, as teeth are overcrowded and flossing can cause bleeding gums.
