Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
It's been 5 months since my ortho started pulling on my impacted canine, and it hasn't budged. Everytime he pulls on it, I feel pressure for 5 minutes, and then it's gone. I almost feel like the elastic he's using to pull just stretches out, and stops pulling. I duno, I'm getting really bummed that...

Re: "You've got a really unique and complicated case" -- my braces story
Thursday, I got my bottom braces on. I have pictures, but I just don't have them ready to post yet because MY MOUTH IS IN SO MUCH PAIN I can't seem to take a sec to edit them for posting. My bottom teeth are a lot more crooked than my top, so while the top hurt when I first got them on, it was nothi...

Re: Yikes! Second adjustment
Please be careful applying tea tree oil! It's poisonous when ingested! https://www.poison.org/articles/2010-dec/tea-tree-oil I recommend skipping the tea tree oil and using dental wax to cover the brakets/areas that are still hitting the sores. that's what I did, and was healed up in about 3 days. M...

Re: Let's get real -- How important is flossing with braces?
I never notice a difference, unless something is stuck. I have a little gum recession on my bottom teeth, but it's not from gum disease. I've never had problems with gum disease. I think it's from the way I clench my teeth together. I tend to push my bottom teeth against my top, and it's those main ...

Re: Let's get real -- How important is flossing with braces?
Why wouldn't one endeavor to floss on a daily basis? Because of several reasons ~Never had floss in the house as a kid, so was never taught the habit. ~Many people have sensory issues that make different aspects of flossing painful and torturous. ~There are no proven studies saying that flossing ev...

I'm also in the canine club! Braces on to hopefully bring down my top right impacted canine. I'm 31, so I'm worried it won't be successful, but they told me if it can't be brought down it will have to be removed anyway eventually, so I figured might as well try.

Re: First-time Braces, 30
How has it been going? I'm 28 and due to get them in January, and I'm quite nervous. Mostly about telling people/people seeing them the first time as an adult. So far, it's been going well! Despite the pain involved, I think I'm rocking braces fairly well, haha -- they make me look a little younger...

Yikes! I wonder if I have gum recession. I can brush pretty aggressively sometimes.

What do you mean by harm?Fiatbraces wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 7:16 am I use an electric toothbrush and it actually causes less harm than my manual one did, the electric toothbrush does the work for you and keeps your mouth cleaner in my opinion.

Re: Let's get real -- How important is flossing with braces?
I had my first adjustment yesterday, and I asked them how my hygiene was looking. They said everything looked good! I've been flossing about twice a week, so I'm thinking that's going to be fine. I'll add in more when I eat food more likely to get stuck between teeth.

I forgot to ask xD
I did ask how my hygiene was doing, and they said everything looked good, so I think I'll stick to a manual brush for now

Re: "You've got a really unique and complicated case" -- my braces story
Had my first scheduled adjustment today! The doctor said I had a lot of movement! I didn't notice it visually, but I could sure feel it in my bite. Looking at these side-by-side pics, now I can see it! That 2nd incisor on the right definitely moved a lot. He said the whole right side looked like it ...

Electric vs Manual brishes
I've been considering getting an electric toothbrush, but I'm honestly a little worried about it. My regular toothbrushes get stuck in my brackets ALL THE TIME, and I'm worried that with an electric one it will get stuck, but the brush won't stop, resulting in disaster. what does everyone use, and w...
