so what's the verdict on this? I am 21 years old and have had the RPE in my mouth for about 4 days now. I turn the key once a day. I did not have the surgery and my doc did not mention anything about it.
So can the expander be used without the surgery? This thread wasnt really clear on it

if oyu dont follow your doc's orders it could possibly extend the duration. My brother when he had braces was on for about 3-4 years. He missed a few appointments, broke a few brackets, etc. so just follow everything your doctor says, and you should be fine.

they are usually on for about 2 weeks. they are used to make space for the molar bands.

How long did it take for your speech to return back to normal? I'm going on day 3 with my expander and my speech has only slighty improved, but it seems like it isnt getting any better than this

i got my top expander put in today. how the bleep do you guys eat with this thing on? Food always get stuck between the expander and the roof of my mouth. I have to chug down a glass of water to wash it down

update 2/13/06 i thought i was going in today to have the top archwire put in place, however that didnt quite happen :cry: instead they put in an expander :cry:x10. I just noticed the showerpik advertisement on the archwire hompage and decided to order one. I tried searching to see if anyone had reviewed this product but came up with no results.
