Re: Electric vs Manual brishes
I’ve been using a Sonicare toothbrush for the last 15 years and I’ll never go back to Manual! My teeth feel cleaner especially with the braces. I also love that there is a built in timer for each quadrant so you know that you’re brushing for long enough. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion...

Re: Rubber bands at 25
I went through this treatment! It wasn’t too painful and it worked great! My issue was I sucked my thumb as a child (had my two front baby teeth knocked out accidentally by a fall) so when my adult teeth started coming in they formed around my thumb sucking causing an overjet/buck tooth appearance. ...

Re: Power chains (3 weeks in?)
I also had very crowded teeth (mine were on the bottom) and had extractions done. Looking back over some of my pics I did notice that they used powerchains on the bottom to help pull my bottom incisors into the space created by the extractions. They weren’t placed on all my bottom teeth, just used t...

My ortho has only ever given me the Impala rubber bands. I haven’t used any others.

Re: Ok to waterpik twice a day?
I also use my waterpik twice a day and haven’t experienced any issues. My hygienist recommended one when I told her I was finally getting braces and it has been the best investment! I love it and I’ll continue to use it everyday once my braces are off.

Re: Extraction gap closure time
I had 4 extractions and my ortho used rubber bands to help the gaps close. I wore them 24 hours a day and it didn’t take too long for them to close. Maybe a couple of months to close completely. It wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be either.

Re: Rubber bands on first day
I’m at at 18 months of treatment and I’ve been wearing rubber bands continuously after the 1st month. I’ve become so used to them that it feels weird if I don’t wear them.

Re: Whitening your teeth BEFORE braces?
I asked my hygienist and she said to wait until they were off to get the whitening done. She said that it would be a waste of money to do it before since you’ll want to do it again after they are off. I do drink a ton of coffee, tea, and wine though so maybe that’s why! 😂

Re: Extraction gap closure time
I had 4 teeth removed. The gaps closed pretty quickly. My ortho had me wear rubber bands 24 hours a day to help close the gaps. It was less painful than I expected it to be though. Good luck!
