I'm almost 3 months post-op after lower and upper surgery. I had to use an electric razor at first. Now I use an electric on only the right side since it's still numb, but on the left chin I use a normal razor. The tingling from the electric razor can be unbearable at times, I just squint and bear i...

I'm just about 7 weeks post op. I had upper and lower but no genio. my bottom lip and chin are numb, but now i can feel a tingly sensation upon touching all areas. It's just the surface, but definitely an improvement from 6 weeks ago. My bottom lip used to burn 24/7, but now it only happens in the l...

Hi Davep, Happy to hear things are moving along. I am 1 month post op from upper and lower surgery. I can relate to your painful lower lip. I'm numb on my lower lip and chin, however over the last week the left half of my lower lip is waking up. If I run an ice cube across my lips, I can definitely ...

unwired today after 4 weeks!
Just returned from the OS after getting unwired. Man, what a strange feeling! I had lower advancement and upper widening and my lower jaw feels so strange! I was hoping to be able to eat some real food, but I can only open my jaw about 1/4 inch, I can barely get a straw in there! Os wants me on a li...

Hi Pokergirl, I've been wired shut since Aug 15th. A few days ago I talked the surgeon into taking out the plastic splint and just having me wired for the rest of the 1.5 weeks. I completely understand where your coming from. The plastic splint made it very hard to get anything in. I'm living off of...

I'm right there with ya :) I've been wired shut since August 15 and will be for 3.5 weeks. They had to keep the plastic splint in my mouth and that is making it very difficult to talk/drink. I competely understand what about the mucus build up and coughing. The 2nd night, I couldn't get it down and ...

I had surgery also on Wednesday (upper and lower). No pain, just a lot of swelling and this plastic splint in my mouth is a real pain (but a small price to pay for the assured stability and no return trip to the OR). Splint is probably going to be in for 3 more weeks - grrrr - Pre- surgery was fille...
