Re: How do braces affect speech?
You should be fine, don't worry about it too much. As long as there is nothing behind your teeth, any difficulties are probably going to be only very minor. It is crazy how fast tongues and lips can adapt! There will probably be days when the gaps between your teeth will be smaller/bigger than what ...

Re: I have something in common with my first graders
Congratulations on the decision to improve your smile :) Do you have an adult incisor hidden/impacted? I understand the frustration of having to wait - did you go to different ortho offices for consults? Sometimes, once you have found the right ortho for you, things can move along quite quickly, so ...

Re: Let's do it again! ... I guess
Yes, that is what I heard, and I am not looking forward to the annoying bite blocks at all - I guess one gets used to them somehow, just like with everything else? I definitely hope so. And I am sure that they were just trying to be nice and helpful at the ortho office! They are quite accommodating ...

Re: Let's do it again! ... I guess
:) I had a good appointment today. Originally, they were only going to change my clear ligatures, as the practice will be closed for 2 weeks for a summer break, but the ortho even put in a new wire (14 Ni Ti or sth like that?), as my teeth are moving along well. They said that my taking care of my g...

Re: Let's do it again! ... I guess
Almost three weeks in. I am still annoyed that I only have my uppers in, and fear that this might make the whole treatment time longer. Tomorrow, I have an appointment to have my ligatures switched, and will voice my concerns then. My big hope is that I'll get an appointment to have the lowers in ve...

Re: Let's do it again! ... I guess
So, it has been over a week, and I feel like I have gotten used to the upper braces. Almost no awkward reactions, even though a lot of people have asked me about them or mentioned them. I am happy though that I finally started doing something about my teeth so I don't mind questions. Also, honestly,...

Re: Let's do it again! ... I guess
And they are on. Or, at least half of them. I went in yesterday. They attached the upper brackets and all four bands (on first molars), but not the lower brackets yet (due to my overbite). My lower teeth are much more in disarray than my uppers, so I hope they’ll get the brackets on there soon (the ...

Re: Deep bite
I've also been wondering about that. Would then first only the upper arch be treated? Or is it ok if the upper teeth bite into the lower brackets?

Let's do it again! ... I guess
Heyho! I am in my late twenties and, like so many here, had braces as a teenager. First premolar extractions, half a year of some sort of functional appliance (only at night), then fixed braces for two years or so. My orthodontist wanted to work with headgear, which I simply refused  . That...
