World traveler!
Hi lightfun . I can't answer your question, but I'm a guinea pig--my husband and I teach in China, but we're from the States (where we go in the summer), and we're moving to Bolivia next year. So I get to have my braces adjusted on three different continents. Yikes! The braces in China were a lot ch...

Hi Crowded Mouth -- it sounds like you're doing everything right, but I can vouch for the effectiveness of waterpiks; now I've gotten to the point where I don't feel my teeth are clean 'til I've used it! I don't have an official "Waterpik," though. What I've got is even better, I think; it...

Progress after 4 days?!
Maybe i'm imagining things, but it appears that my right side is already beginning to close down. Did I just have a weird camera angle in that first picture? I don't know...I'll call it progress anyway, just for kicks! BEFORE (Saturday, 18 March): http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/3151/adjustment2rig...

Hi there meaw, I understand your desire to avoid jaw surgery.Good luck starting your treatment! To answer your question...my orthodontist did say I could use ceramics on the top 6 teeth, and I am. As far as I know they're working fine. Eating has been difficult for me...but I remember it was difficu...

Yes!
I just got elastics three days ago and I also find them kind of embarrassing and awkward...
but I've just tried to remind myself that braces felt that way too in the beginning!! I imagine I'll get used to them. I know exactly how you feel though--good luck!

I have MEAW!
Hello Mike (oder soll ich "Gruess Gott" sagen? :) ) I have never seen anyone else post about the Multiloop treatment on this board--how exciting to have you join! I am an American living in Asia, where the MEAW treatment is very popular. It is a non-surgical approach to correcting open bit...

Adjustment #3
Hi everyone! Well, I got the Multiloop Edgewise (MEAW) appliance today... not the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but if it works, I'm happy. My ortho said my top arch is not completely aligned but he is still OK with using this appliance--he said, however, that he would've been unable to put i...

Thanks for the great replies, everyone. Good point, Way Too Old For This , I never thought about my mouth growing, but it would make sense... brat2 , it is so interesting to hear that you heard such drastically different treatment options from two orthos. I guess it just goes to show that there are ...

Thanks for the replies, guys. Kim, you're definitely right about getting multiple opinions. Unfortunately I don't have many options where I live but luckily the ortho I am going to has been recommended highly and I like him a lot. The idea of extractions makes me nervous...I hated having my wisdom t...

Chinadoll's Open Bite Story
Hi everyone! I decided to start posting some progress pics on this forum. Just a little background: I am 26 years old and just got braces (6 ceramic uppers, the rest metal) on January 21, 2006. I have a Class 1 anterior open bite, which means I have no jaw problems--the open bite was most likely cau...

Class 3
Hi aznfayeth.
Wow, I can't believe your ortho didn't mention your Class 3 bite until now! That seems surprising. Do you think you'll consider surgery?
However, it's great that you'll be done earlier...how exciting. Nice teeth too!
