Re: Lefort I surgery, March 2021
I've purchased a good neck pillow as I am told I won't be sleeping while laying flat for at least a few days, if not longer. This pillow is what was recommended by a youtube vlogger who had surgery, and I can already tell it's going to be great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PPRD9DG/ref=ppx_y...

Re: Lefort I surgery, March 2021
Presurgical CT scan. This is what my surgeon will use to work out how to remodel my maxilla. Pretty neat technology.

Here I am before any correction, and after a year of braces, ready for surgery.

Lefort I surgery, March 2021
I just got my official surgery date. I am having Lefort I surgery, not sure yet if I will need palate expansion. With the way things look now, I am guessing so. The surgeon will model my upper arcade so it's level. One side of it is significantly lower than the other, and I have a crossbite, and als...

Spacer stuck for >10 months
I just pulled an old spacer from way up inside my gum, wedged between two banded molars. It's been sore and bleeding for a while, but I couldn't find anything in there. I am good about flossing and brushing, but this would bleed every time. I just went to the dentist for a cleaning this week, and al...

I use a water flosser exclusively. Highly recommended.

Re: Braces at 39
I had the same issue when I started out, and I realized it's staining. Don't panic! But definitely do not be afraid to ask your orthodontist anything that is on your mind, that's their job to help you! I promise you are not going to make them feel bad. Use your voice and ask for what you want! I got...

How do they feel? I like all the colors! You look good with them.
I just get black or navy because I'm boring.
Como se sienten? Me gustan todos los colores! Te ves bien con ellos.
Me pongo negro o azul marino porque soy aburrida. He olvidado casi todo mi espanol.

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties
I’m so happy for you! I can already see a ton of progress! And I’m glad you went with the traditional braces- I think that is a great choice. I avoided smiling or having my picture taken for years. So nice to have confidence and to stop hiding! Thank you! I am pretty happy with it all so far, even ...

Re: Heading back to the ortho--more than 3 months later
I think my molars are starting to rotate, too.
I still haven't been able to go in for an adjustment since Feb, but my other teeth are still continuing to shift in a good way.

I see now that I am unable to view anyone else's photos, so maybe nobody can see mine. Is that true?

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties
Even with the delays in treatment due to COVID-19, I am so happy so far with this. I am more confident already, and it just feels better. I am thrilled. It's impressive how fast things are moving. I still have a very long way to go, including major surgery, but I am not afraid to smile anymore. http...

Re: New to braces - questions about bite!
Hello! I also have braces due to my teeth getting all messed up because of Smile Direct aligners. It's normal for things to not feel quite right from time to time during your adjustments. At my last one, I couldn't close my mouth without biting right into both cheeks for a week or so. Every new adju...

Re: Worthwhile to get braces at 38?
That's not really a judgment I can make, that's between you and your ortho. What is your hesitation? Having braces is not a big deal, I don't mind them. They take a bit of getting used to.
