That sounds really horrible. I had a genioplasty 8 weeks ago and have had no issues whatsoever.
The procedure itself was definitely not the issue for you, but rather the incompetent surgeon.

Re: Orthodontic treatment time = Island time!
I've had braces on since April 2020, for what was supposed to be 18 months, but COVID messed that all up and I probably have 9-12 months more to go.
I feel that I would be done by now if not for all of the interruptions!

Re: Braces and subsequent dental work
Braces themselves don't cause dental issues. The problem is cleaning. It sounds like your friend did not properly clean her teeth while she had braces on and that's probably what caused her issues. If you can commit to enhanced dental hygiene while you have braces on then I doubt you'd have a proble...

Re: Looking for advice on treatments for 8 y.o
When I was 17 I visited an orthodontist and started treatment and the first thing he did was put me in a removable palate expander. I only tell you that to say that it can be done as late as that age, and then the crowding fixed via braces. Your daughter is EIGHT, her skull/face is not done growing ...

Re: RME removal
Ouch, that sounds frustrating.
Are you still expanding your RME? I only had my RME in for 90 days, and only expanded it during the first 2 or 3 weeks. Just curious why your RME is in your mouth for so long.

Re: SARPE/Braces at 35
Hi Carno, I'm curious about your treatment, the Sarpe sure sounds like a intense experience. How are the braces now and do you still have that expander? Hope you're well Hi sebasbrink, The SARPE wasn't too bad, the surgery itself was only about 45 minutes long, and then I was home the same day. My ...

Re: SARPE Problems/Le Fort Solutions
Hi Goku I know this post is old but I wondered if you could share how things developed for you afterall. I had SARPE 5 weeks ago and at week 4 I noticed my right side only expanded and now the incisive is tipping forward and it looks as if the right side of my jaw has lowered. it is asymetrical exp...

Re: Doctor selection process & cost
My surgeon charges about $20k for the Lefort/BSSO, but that doesn't include the anesthetist or hospital. The hospital costs are what really add up. As far as how to find someone, I'm not sure. I lucked into my surgeon because my orthodontist recommended him, and it turned out he's done thousands of ...

Re: SARPE Surgery
I'm glad to hear it went well! Honestly the recovery was much easier than I was expecting, and I hope you'll continue to find that to be the case also! One thing I just remembered was that Q-tips were a lifesaver when it came to cleaning out my nostrils. Since you aren't able to blow your nose, you ...

Re: Hello! Crossbite elastics experience?
I had crossbite elastics for a while. I had a button bracket on the inside of my upper left rear molar, attaching to a hook on the outside of my lower left rear molar. On the right side of my mouth I had a hook on the inside lower rear molar attaching to the outside upper rear molar. They didn't mak...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Ah, that makes sense. I did not have anything else put in (thankfully). I'm not sure what a TPE is though. I definitely got better at speaking with the appliance in my mouth, but it was never perfectly comfortable. The amount of spit it made my mouth produce was incredibly annoying for the first few...

Re: SARPE/Braces at 35
Well, haven't made any updates here in a while, but I figured I'd add some progress pics. I was seeing the orthodontist every 2-3 weeks for a few months, but have now gone to every 5 weeks. I've also been seeing the oral surgeon at about the same frequency as well. This first photo is from the morni...

Re: How Two British Orthodontists Became Celebrities to Incels
Interesting article. I have read several articles/listened to podcasts that talk about the benefits of nasal breathing (or rather, the detriments of oral breathing), and can see how mouth breathing is not good at all. I don't think I believe the Mews' idea that you can change the structure of your f...

Re: Lateral going out
I wouldn't worry too much about it,my teeth have been moving in and out of perfect placement since I got my braces on. Each adjustment does something a little different, and it takes a little while for them to settle into place. I think it's fairly normal for teeth to move out of place and then back...
