Re: When will I be able to eat some sort of solid food
Hi , well I am into my second month of braces. I am 58 years old and I too procrastinated. The first few weeks were tricky. Rice, mashed potatoes, pudding, applesauce. Chewing meat is usually a hit or miss. Chicken yes, steak, not so much. I actually was afraid I would end up choking from trying to ...

Re: Are masks helping you cope with braces??
Two weeks with my braces on, I don’t mind that they show, I minded more people seeing my crooked uneven teeth. At the price I paid for my braces I wish everyone could see them. Lol..
In a couple years maybe we won’t have to wear masks and I will get to unveil a beautiful new smile. 🙏🏻

Re: First time braces - age 36
Hello, I just read your post and am wondering how your doing? Age, 36, your so young. Lol I just had mine put on, age 58. Your situation was similar to mine, crooked teeth my whole life, shifting more as I got older. I am looking at 2 to 2 1/2 years of braces. I was not a candidate for Invisalign. I...

Re: Metal or Ceramic?
First off congratulations! This is a big step. I just got mine on at 58 years old and this is my first week. So the very young dental tech sat with me during my consultation and explained metal, ceramic, clear, and how fun it will be and colored bands. I could tell she hasn’t dealt with many adults ...

Re: Lip Balm/Lip Gloss
Get a jar of coconut oil. I put some in a tiny container or Dixie cup, it’s nice and oily and smooth on your lips. Just use it like lip balm or chapstick. I also use it on the inside of my lips so they don’t snag as much sliding over my wires and brackets. It’s been a lifesaver..

Re: What’s The Right Order??
I brush- teeth tongue , inside cheeks lightly, proxy brush around teeth , brackets, and in between hard to reach spots- floss, water pik, rinse, mouthwash. If your new and find your lips dry or have a struggle closing your lips as they adjust to braces I found coconut oil on and around your lips hel...

First Week
Hello, well this is my first week with braces. I am 58 years old and this was a big decision. So many things they told me after they were on. In my initial consultation the young assistant explains the type of braces, the fun colors I can pick out and how great this is. Well I ended up with 3-4 spri...
