I got my retainer last week. I was given the Hawley 2 days after the braces came off. Unfortunately, my incisors moved in that small interim where my teeth were naked. The retainer has now pushed them back somewhat. I was also given a bonded retainer on my bottom teeth, along the front 6. I was give...

I have EXTREMELY tight teeth. When I first got my spacers, one popped out the night I went home. I went back the next day and they put another one in which popped out 5 minutes later. They concluded it wasn't going far enough down because the teeth were too tight in that area. So, that molar had a b...

I've got my retainer in now. It brings back memories of the expander... slight speech problem. I'm sure that will go away. But here are more clear pictures of the before/after. These are the ones the ortho took. They better illustrate the drastic change my teeth went through. http://img209.imageshac...

I had these in my mouth for about 6 months straight. They worked very quickly for me. My ortho had to move half of my bottom teeth over a bit, so every appt he moved the spring over as each tooth moved along. One thing I suggest is getting some dental wax, as the spring can be pretty rough on your s...

I'm just wondering why he's trying to charge you twice the average cost of braces, since he wouldn't be doing the surgery in his office and that wouldn't be included in that price... or would it?

Why would the ortho also do periodontal work in his office?

weird. Find another ortho.

Finished pictures: http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7295/afterup1.jpg As you can see, my one front tooth is darker than the rest. About 8 years ago I had a root canal on that tooth because I was kicked by my brother while we were horsing around. After my orthodontics, the tooth darkened quite a bi...

Bringing back an old post.. because I'm done! I got my braces off yesterday, and I go tomorrow to have the retainer put in. I will post pictures soon to show the difference between the originals (in the original post) and the result.. which is dramatic to say the least. I am a bit worried right now ...

Well, it's out and it feels great! There is a bit of pain as the teeth are now adjusting inward a bit since they have nothing jamming them outward. Otherwise, I'm loving it!

To celebrate, I am yelling words like "Key" "Jeep" "Sleep" with utter clarity over and over! ;)

Why would your ortho prolong your treatment? You owe them the money regardless of how long it takes, so it would be in their best interest to have you finish earlier so they have make room for new patients in the appointment roster.

It's been cold here (Canada eh) and breathing outside causes pain. I went in today and they were closed. I guess everyone is on holidays this week! Luckily, they must have checked the office messages because they called me and said I could come in tommorow... right before the ortho leaves for vacati...

The brackets never left a taste in my mouth, but I noticed it after I got my bands and expander. I'm guessing its from the expander.

You may have slightly eroded the gum, exposing the tooth necks (this was what caused my hypersensitivity). If so, the only solution is to wait for the exposed part to calcify. You can speed this up getting regular fluoride treatments, getting fluoride varnish put on, and using a special high-fluori...

Well, this is extreme. After brushing my teeth this afternoon I went to rinse my mouth out with cold water... forgetting about it for a second... and I nearly doubled over in pain. It lasts several seconds then compeltely subsides. It's awful!

Extreme sensitivity to cold

For the past few days I've had extreme sensitivity to cold on my bottom jaw only on the right side. I have an expander on my upper palete and the right arm has bent down so that i hit it with my bottom molars when i bite down. It seems like I may have made some sort of gash in my bottom molar by doi...
