I had something similar to what you're describing. One of my lower laterals was just too far back to fit into the wire at the beginning. At my second adjustment they attached powerchains to the teeth around my "left out" tooth to create room for the tooth to come forward. By the fourth adj...

I was originally slated to have spacers in for one month (busy ortho's office), but after a week and a half I was so sick of them that I called the ortho and begged with the scheduler to squeeze me in sooner. She took pity and gave me an earlier appointment. I was so excited because I thought that m...

It should be no problem, as long as you speak up about it. When I was getting braced, they put just my top brackets on first without a wire. The tech working on me put silver ligs on all the brackets, but if I had asked, I'm sure he would have put colors on for me. :D

I ended up buying a little kid toothbrush - one with a tiny little head and super soft bristles just for brushing the teeth surrounding the extractions. Your oral-b should be fine for the other teeth, though, as long as you are careful. Definitely follow the advice of your dentist/oral surgeon. I ca...

Here's my story, I had all four first bicuspids extracted: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9397 The first picture with the blue ligs is about two weeks after my extractions. On the second page you can see how the gaps healed up. The bottom extractions are a little more visible than t...

I had all four first premolars extracted. I still have the extraction gaps and you can only see them if I smile really big and if you look at my teeth from the side. I recently told some friends about the extractions and they were suprised, as they have been around me for months with the extraction ...

I knew I'd seen this here before, I found this in the "Ask the Doc" section and explains what the others have said about how powerchains lose their force quickly, but orthos don't change them right away. The quote is by Dr. J, who used to help out on the Ask the Doc board... As an orthodon...

Hello emrar..... I'm sooo sorry things have been so horrible for you! Unfortunately I don't have much advice or words of wisdom for you since I have not been in your position. I do recommend that you speak with the schedulers at your ortho's office and ask them whether they are just busy in these co...

I had four extractions about 10 weeks ago. Just like the others, I wouldn't say that it hurt. Whenever I started to feel any pain, I just asked them for more numbing stuff. It is a bit disconcerting, though, because they have to pull the tooth in different directions until it breaks away from the ja...

Thanks KK! I really appreciate your support :D ...

The teeth are still sore this morning, so I have a feeling it will be another day of oatmeal and soup. Pasta actually works pretty well, so maybe I'll be digging into the pasta again tonight.

I had my second adjustment two days ago, and came back with some new installations! I got a powerchain on the teeth surrounding my extractions on the lowers, as well as wire ties around my lower canines (I'm hoping that will rotate those little guys). The ortho also put some bends in my new .20 (?) ...

I'm drinking a lot more water! :D I've always been a big water drinker, but now that I have my braces, I've been drinking sooo much more. Aside from the usual water at my desk, I've been having a lot more water when I go out to eat, especially with other people. I take a bite and then take a sip of ...

I had two brackets fall off. One fell off within one hour of getting braced, while I was drinking a protein shake. The other fell off two days later while drinking coffee. When I had them re-attached, the assistant told me not to eat or drink for an hour to let them set. That was six weeks ago and I...
