I'm having the same problem! I've been in braces a little over a year, and just a month ago I started to feel one of my wisdom teeth poking through. I'm 25 and had kind of just assumed that they would never come through, but sure enough, a tooth is making its way through the gum back there. I...

One year progress pics!

Hi all! Today marked the end of my first year in braces and the beginning of the second one! I'm very happy with my progress so far and wanted to share my pics with everyone. The first set is two weeks into treatment, and the second was taken today. As you can see, I had my four first premolars extr...

I couldn't resist popping in and letting you know how jealous I am of your snowboarding trip! The pics are amazing :D This is only my second season riding and I'm seriously hooked already, which is not good considering it is 90 degrees in L.A. today.... I was literally watching my local mountain mel...

I have had a couple friends say that my teeth weren't that bad before, and I generally take it as a compliment or a reassurance that people really don't notice the teeth of others. If a friend were to continue commenting about how my teeth "aren't that bad" then I would definitely be irrit...

Openbiter here too! Mine was also very small, though - maybe 2mm or so. I'm being treated with 4 premolar extractions. I'm pretty sure elastics are in my future. At one point I had a curved archwire on my lower arch, which I believe helps bring my lower front teeth up further. I'm about 11 months in...

You can try rolling the wax into a little sausage before you stick it on the wire, then make sure that you attach the wax to the brackets on either side of the offending wire, so that they are like wax anchors, with the "sausage" covering the wire. I've also heard of people using wax on ju...

I agree! I love the Clean Paste floss. :D I don't usually use floss threaders, and I find that the paste stuff in this kind makes the floss a little bit stiffer than most floss, so I find it easier to thread under the wire than other types of floss. Plus, like you said, I feel minty clean even befor...

I had four premolars extracted in March, the ortho started working on closing them 6 months later, in September. Now (3 months later), 3 of the 4 have closed and the last one has about 1-2 mm to go. So 9 months into treatment and most of my gaps have closed. Here's hoping the last one gets there soon!

:-1 I had 4 premolars out at around 11am. I took the day off work, but went to class that night at around 6. I wasn't really in any pain, just a little bit of soreness in my jaw (from holding my mouth open for so long I think), but I really couldn't talk too much. I was able to stop the bleeding usi...

I'm paying $3400 usd for regular metal braces. Estimated treatment time is 30-36 months  . That price includes records, retainers, a rotadent toothbrush, and follow-up after braces. If the braces come off before 30 months, they will lower the price (I'm not sure by how much - I need to check m...

I guess you could call it slurring... I have noticed that my speech was affected with my last adjustment. I have really thick square wires on both arches and powerchains across all my uppers and lowers. In my case, I think it has to do with the profile of the wire with the powerchains - my braces st...

I think it has a lot to do with your bite. I had four extractions. When I went to the consultation with my ortho she explained to me that they could do treatment without extractions, but my open bite would get worse because in order to get all the teeth to fit, they'd have to flare out my front teet...
