Hello fellow SARPE'ers! Been a while since I've posted on here. I'm now post-op and finished expansion 2 days ago. Did anyone feel like their incisors were going to pop out? I think mine are sticking out more now, and when I move my lip over them it feels as if they are sticking out way too far, far...

Re: So excited to meet another BSSO person!

This is good to hear Brandy. Makes me feel a little more secure in my decision as well. ...What is a little surprising though is that just because someone "isn't comfortable" with a procedure that the doctors are still willing to try something else which is likely to give a poor result. Se...

Hi all. Just back from the ortho. Spacers went in pretty smoothly (photos are on my blog already). I have 8 of them around my maxiallary 4's and 6's. It doesn't hurt too much right now, more like pressure. I did take 2 extra strength Tylenol an hour before I went though, so we'll see how it goes! I ...

Hi all, Thanks for the report Brandy. Sounds pretty good overall. Question for those of you who have had spacers already - how long does it take for the discomfort to become bearable? I think mine are going to be in for two weeks. How long were yours in? I just read a site that estimates it takes 3 ...

My plan says I'll have the RPE for 3 months after the SARPE (and 3 weeks before), but after reading on here I take that as just meaning a general estimate. I'm with you on that one too Brandy, I think I should mentally prepare for up to 6 months. Every milestone on our journey is a moving target so ...

Hey Graham, So...I got my braces on last week. What I think the plan is as I understand it, is that they will remove the top archwire the day they temporarily place my appliance, or my OS will just cut it once he is done with the surgery. I have taken 3 weeks off of work for recovery of this proced...

Hi Brady... Thanks for reading and for your reply. I think if you've read the 14 pages worth of posts in this forum plus done some web surfing then we're pretty close as far as research goes. I've read more of people's experiences rather than official medical documentation since it's usually hard to...

Hey openbite... Congrats on making it through your first surgery! Nice to hear your swelling is disappearing. ...Yeah, while I can't speak for myself just yet, I've looked at others pictures of their teeth after SARPE and they are all over the place in the begining, but they do come back into place ...

Thanks DM and katemm06 for your well wishes! I wish you both inhumanly straight teeth. :D DM, thanks for checking out my blog. My impression was that SARPE is a less frequently performed procedure so I wanted to do something to help people out who might be considering this too. I have done a TON of ...

Graham's smile makeover blog

Hi all...

I just started a blog. My journey begins on Monday with spacers on my top teeth. My blog will document my experience through SARPE, braces, and a bimaxillary osteotomy (Lefort I and Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy [BSSO])
