Thanks everyone. The big day is tomorrow and I'm much calmer about it. For now, anyway. I keep telling myself it will be worth it. I appreciate everyone's comments - they have helped tremendously! Take care everyone!

I checked out your blog, susieq, and you really can't see the gaps. I'm shocked. I don't have a really wide smile, so I'm guessing it'll be okay for me, too. After sleeping on it, I realize now that I was being really dramatic about everything. Don't get me wrong, I am still extremely disappointed a...

Extremely disappointing adjustment today...

As some of you may know, I have been wearing a distal jet since February to create space for my crowded teeth. I had not wanted to create space by extractions. Well, today at my adjustment, the ortho let me know the distal jet was not working and could not create enough space to let the braces do wh...

Spacers are the worst! I had them for three weeks. I lost 10 pounds, though. It was definately a relief to get the braces after going through that. Of course, there is pain with braces, too. I agree with an earlier post that said canker sores are the worst. Boy, are they ever. I hadn't had to use wa...

I feel like giving up just about every day! I've only been in braces for six weeks. I've had a distal jet on for two months and I went in for my first adjustment yesterday. Terrible terrible terrible news. My teeth hadn't moved a bit. I was upset because I wasn't so sure they activated the distal je...

I was able to get a 4% discount by paying up front. I also got a discount because my ortho is a preferred provider for my insurance company. Worked out well for me. I only paid $2100 total for treatment and that included a distal jet.

My ortho says you should never have to buy wax while you're in braces. You should be able to get as much as you need for free from the ortho, since they usually get tons of it for free from sales reps. You could always ask yours if they give it out as well. Good luck!

I have a distal jet (similar to a pendulum) and I agree that the waterpik is the only way to go. Mine is actually the Interplak system, but I'm assuming that it is the same as a waterpik. but with the Interplak, you close your moth over the nozzle (kind of like the suction thingy at the dentist that...

Myn ortho wanted to extract four, but I didn't want to lose any teeth, so we chose the distal jet, which slowly distalizes the molars to create space. I have to wear it for a couple of months, but the braces are also on (finally) and they can work together to create space. Did your ortho give you th...

Call me a wimp, but the pain just got to me sooooooo bad that I had my good friend (who is also my pediatrician) to prescribe me some pain meds. I should probably tell the story of the appointment so you can kind of understand my plight. My teeth are super tight (even though they are relatively stra...
