I have trouble closing my lips all the way too! I suppose I'll get used to it eventually, but now (3 days into having braces), I just don't know what to do with my lips.

I've been in braces for 3 days too, and I have also been using a lot of wax. Like others have said, warm salt-water rinses help immensely. I am already starting to reduce the amount of wax I use. So I guess the good news is, it does get better.

I'm a mess when it comes to eating. I'm so embarassed about having to chew with my mouth open, and sticking my finger in my mouth to get chunks of food unstuck, that I don't eat lunch with my coworkers anymore. :oops: I hope to eventually overcome this self-consciousness. Yes, I've had a bit of a headache since I got my braces on (yesterday). My actual teeth didn't start hurting till around noon-ish today. It seems like it's all interconnected - if there's pressure on your teeth, it transfers to other parts of your skull, thus the headaches. I hope it will get better...

Heaven forbid I actually ask my orthodontist anything while I am there. I swear, I step foot into that office and it's like I turn into a brainless mute. But now that I am away from my orthodontist my questions come back to me. LOL! Thank goodness I'm not the only one with this problem!!! :lol:

Yes... I have noticed that stuff comes flying out of my mouth more frequently now. I was singing along with the radio in my car, and the spit was just flyin'! I'll have to restrain myself in the presence of other people, I guess.

Yay karen! That's awesome! Isn't it the best feeling when you go for a cleaning and the hygenist tells you you're doing everything right?
