treatment begins on my son now!
After having a very long three years in braces, my son is in separators and will get an expander on Monday. It is almost comical, as my ortho can't believe how fast my son has grown up. She told me... He was just a baby when you got your braces and now he's 6 already. Funny how time flies faster for...

ugly stages of treatment......
dottie, I'm finished with ortho treatment just a couple of months ago. My teeth look like model perfect teeth now. They are beautiful and gorgeous and look just like the models the orthos have. Now, keep in mind during treatment, my teeth went through some mighty ugly phases. I had gaps here and the...

Poor Matt...... SIGH!
Oh Matt, I had to wear headgear this past year and I really never got used to it. It was eventually acceptable but I would admit it was the worst part of my ortho treatment. It made me feel like an absolute martian! LOL! I was able to wear mine 17-20 hours a day. It made it so instead of having to w...

Not trying to "knock" veneers, just think people a
I juist wanted to clarify, that I'm not trying to say all veneers are "bad" for everyone. I'm sure many people like them and have no problems, but the only three people I know who have had them for 5+ years have all told me that in hind sight they all wished they had never gotten them. The...

I known three people and they've all been disappointed....
Research veneers and your cosmetic dentist before going through with it. I know three people who have gotten the upper six veneers and all three went to different doctors and none of them have been happy. First, they are expensive and all three of these women were not aware that veneers don't last f...

Suprise periodontal surgery. Not good!
Just a quick update to let you know about my little suprise procedure I had last week. I went into the periodontist for a fiber releasing procedure and she told me I also needed my frenum done. After she showed me the problem I agreed to have it done all in one appointment. They basically cut the li...

worried about spaces between molars after braces.
After your braces come off you would think there would not be any worries but honestly I'm getting a little worried. I am worried about the spaces around my molars. On the uppers I had only the first molars banded and then brackets on the far back ones. The far back contacts are tight again, however...

Been there, done that and hated spacers.
Just reading your posts brings back the memory of those evil little guys. I hated spacers big time and they hurt me both times. I had the sevens banded after the sixes and yes they made me want to pull my hair out both times. They hurt the minute they put them in and made me have dreams that someone...

I had both and I liked metal better.
I had the clear uppers and metal lowers for two years. I switched to metal uppers for the last year and I just got them all off last week. After having both types I most definitely liked the metal brackets better for many reasons. The big stares and people asking what I had on my teeth because it is...

taking headgear off in your sleep
I had headgear this past year and I also found it off in the morning. I was actually taking it off in my sleep and most likely you are too. I finally got some gloves with velcro on the wrists. I know it sounds strange, but with the gloves on, when I went and tried to take it off in my sleep, my hand...

that 15mm overbite really startled me......
It sounds like you have a deep closed bite and not an overbite. I started out with a very closed and deep bite in front and after opening that bite I ended up with a class 2 overbite and is was 5-6mm, which is about the width of the canine tooth.. or at least mine. Most very big overbites in adults ...

Fun with retainers.
Okay, my friend and I have both recently gotten braces off. We both have bonded permanent lower retainers. She has a clear upper one and I actually have both a clear one and now a hawley. We went out for dinner tonight with a couple of friends and we got to laughing about the whole retainer thing. W...

My braces are history! Whooppee!
After almost three years of treatment, I got my braces off last thursday. And the best part was that I wasn't really expecting them to take them off that day! It was the best possible suprise and my smile looks great and my bite feels just awesome. My ortho gave me a bottle of champagne, two tickets...
