Debanding Date

Well I went in today for a regular adjustment. The ortho starts off by filing me teeth to straighten out the edges then he tells me my teeth are all straight and he just has little adjustments to make. Then he goes on to tell me my braces will be off in April. I was braced in August '05 with a proje...

Spacers again?

I went in for an adjustment the other day only to get the dreaded spacers again. They are where my bottom bands are, they are so annoying. Has anyone had to put in spacers during the middle of their treatment? And what was it for?

It started off as cosmetic but it was because of my ignorance towards having a proper bite. I have always had a crossbite and never realized how having this would wear my teeth down. When I first went in for my consultation I told them only to straighten my teeth because I didn't care about my bite,...

Spacers were so bad for me that when it was time for the braces it was a relief. During the first couple of days your teeth will feel uncomfortable due to the pressure but after that you will barely even notice them. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies guys. I've always thought that elastics were used in the last stages of treatment. All my co-workers told me this so I got all excited about getting them off LOL

I put them off for a long time. My friends would crack jokes and my dentist would always tell me but I never thought my teeth were that bad. I also thought it was too late to get them since I was already out of high school and in my 3rd year of college. Then a year ago, my friend and his brother-in-...

Elastics??

I've been braced for about 8 months now and during my last adjustment I got elastics. My question is does this mean that my treatment is leaning towards the final stages? Also, how long did it take for any of you to get debanded once your ortho started using elastics. Thanks.

8th Adjustment

I've had my braces on for about 8 months and went in for an adjustment today. I just expected another regular tightening but I left with a new arch wire, powerchains and elastics. Is it good to get all of these at once? What does it mean as far as my progress with braces and when did you guys get th...

Bottom teeth?

I have a slight crossbite and instead of going through surgery, my ortho told me that he will sink the bottom teeth inward so the uppers will go over them. Has anyone else gone through this? Anything wrong with this? Thanks
