Hi, I would check that both arches really are simply double the cost as I wouldn't expect this to be the case. Lets ignore the fact that overall the whole process seems ridiculously expensive and look at the fact that when quoting, they are charging for hardware, plus their time. If you have both ar...

My experience has been pretty much the same as most people on here.. weird/difficult for the first 2-3 weeks.. but once your tongue gets used to it then they're fine really! I'm now coming to the end (fingers crossed) of my treatment and for the most part I haven't been annoyed/frustrated etc at all...

Hi Emerald, I phoned up a few local chemists and got one to supply me with a box of syringes, mostly the largest size that they had.... and these were a godsend! The tip was large enough to push most soups through, and so they really helped me. If you're concerned about not getting hold of the zipns...

Hi xTC, I'm in the UK too, and £3500 sounds about right for upper linguals if they're a well respected practice, and you needed at least 12 months treatment. Did they give you a rough estimate of how long you'd need them for? I paid just over £6000 here for upper and lower linguals, but that's a f...

4months on, can plates come loose?
Hi All, I'm now 4 months post BSSO and I thought everything was going really well. However this morning I woke up with a swollen "lump" on one side of my jaw on the outside of my 2nd tooth from the back. I've been to the dentist who's taken an Xray and will forward onto the surgeon, but ou...

Hi Ema, I would thoroughly recommend getting some syringes as well as the bags, as it seems like everyone has a different method that works for them, so best to be sure! I really liked using some larger syringes for soups as i could just poke the end in between the teeth, and fire the soup in there ...

Hi there, You should be fine especially after 3 months. Just start with lighter weights and slowly work your way back to what you were lifting before. I'm 5 weeks post op and did some light weights this week. I did come away feeling like my face was a bit more swollen as I guess it's not a good idea...

Hi Everyone, I'm definately pleased with both my profile, and more importantly... my bite! Seeing my front teeth come together for the first time ever was a bit of a weird feeling! I did have some nice bruising running all down my neck but this has subsided now, so it's just the swelling. I think th...

Suedeness.... the thing on the back bracket is probably some cement that the ortho put over to make it smooth. Every now and again i'll find that the back brackets/wire annoys my tongue so the ortho simply covers it up so it's nice and smooth! I've actually got this on all 4 back brackets at the mo ...

11 Days Post-Op Update! (with pics)
Hi Everyone! Yippeee!! I managed to get through the surgery and the rough few days afterwards! I'll try not to make this post too long, but thought it's worth posting how things went. I went into hospital on Tuesday 11th in the morning having had the biggest meal I could manage on the monday evening...

I had the same thing when I had my wisdom teeth out (at the same hospital that i'm going to on Tuesday), I think I gave them the most confused look when they handed me a rubber glove! Guess I wasn't quite with it! I had hoped to use 2 of the frozen gel pack things that i've bought, but it looks unli...
