I only had lower braces and for me getting food stuck in my teeth was the always the worst part. I never got used to it and the swishing water in my mouth was never very effective. I always kept a toothpick in my wallet and after eating would excuse myslef to the bathroom and pick out the food. A wa...

Braces are off!!! Retainer issues...

My braces came off this morning and my teeth feel and look great. I forgot what it was like to eat and not have half the meal stuck between my teeth. I opted for the fixed (perm) wire retainer and its really bothering me. IThe wire area feels rough and my tounge keep rubbing against it causing my to...

For me the only painful part of the whole process was the spacers, but asprin seemed to get me through it.

I thought I was really going out on a limb getting braces at 34. Now it seems like all of neighbors have braces and I'm the youngest of the bunch.

Easy choice...go with the damons. I've had both and the Damons are way more comfortable in terms on adjusting. Only once did I ever have pain from a new wire/adjustment.

The other big benefit is that the time between adjustments is longer.

The first time I had braces in high school I asked zero question and just let the process happen. Probably becuase I didnt know any better. This time around I was very active in my treatment. And because I always knew the goal of each visit I could provide feedback. In many cases my feedback alterte...

Speeding up the process

Quick background: 30year old male, braces in high school, braces on lower for about 13 months At my previous appt (1 month ago) I had one tooth that was not fully in line with the others. This one tooth was 99% of the way there but just wouldn’t go that last 1%. It had been like this for the past ...

Oh yeah. I had two issues. The wire would pop out of the end bracket or it would slide out of the back just enough to cut my gums. What I quickly found was that a pair of tweezers are essential for the Damon brackets. You need to be carefull of course but the wire is easy to slide back in place (rot...

At my last visit the ortho said the choice was up to me. I had braces when I was in high school but in the 15 years since, my bottom teeth started crowding pretty bad. My top teeth are not perfect but look fine to me and I wanted to avoid top braces at all cost. They choose to use "self-ligatin...

Lower braces coming off...retainer choices

I've had lower braces for about 14 months and in 2 weeks (fingers crossed) they're coming off. So my question is what type of retainer should I get

1- Fixed
2- Removeable
