Hi there Jonni, I was given the exact same choices and I went along the surgical route. My only words of wisdom is that only do it if you are willing to go the distance. It's a tough road but I'm glad I took it, I think I would have regretted it otherwise. It hasn't been easy though... the expander ...

Update
Hey guys I know it's been a few days but I'm ok!! For some reason also my email notifications didn't work so I did not know you guys were writing responses! Sorry about that. Ok, so what really happened - now that it's over - is that my OS (who is Dr. Sheperd - awesome guy) went in and did the LeFor...

Thanks smile and meryaten! Your advice is invaluable! You guys are the best! I found out that my surgery showtime is going to be sometime on the afternoon of the 27th which means I'll be a starving nervous wreck for half the day. I'm not looking forward to that part AT ALL. My past experiences have ...

Le Fort 1 with some "extras" on Dec 27
So as you can imagine I'm starting to do a little freak out... I had SARPE surgery back in May which went great and now I'm ready for the big-time surgery. My OS is going to move the upper jaw forward between 5 and 6mm. They are going to leave the bottom alone, doc says it fits my face, so that's fi...

I had an adjustment yesterday where they repositioned 2 brackets... the ones that reside on my lower canines. They placed them higher on the tooth - I suspect to make them more even? I'm not sure why but I know they are tender today! Yowie! The uppers are tender also due to a newer, thicker gauge wi...

Kat's SARPE before and afters
Just wanted to let you in on my progress: Before - This was right after I got bottom banded in mid-March this year. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/catwithgrniz/Braces/DSC03654_crop.jpg After being expanded all the way - serious "ugly duckling" phase (May 21, 2006)... looks painful n...

Brackets with no wires - owie!
I couldn't handle it if I had to go around without a wire in my brackets... when I first got my RPE in there were 2 brackets on the top that tore holes in my mouth. It was horrible, I didn't want to talk or eat. I finally got the ortho's tech to put ligs on the empty brackets! They'll do that - so a...

Silver ligs
Since I am in the military and do not like to draw attention to my braces (being 31 and all), I stick with the silver ligs... it all blends and looks like this: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/catwithgrniz/Braces/DSC02772.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/catwithgrniz/Braces/DSC02774.j...

No prior key turning for me, Lina...
The doc said I couldn't turn the key but that's because I'm older - I just turned 31... He told me that the palate plates fuse together at around age 16 so after that is when someone requires surgery. I'm not sure about everything but it sounds about right. He said if I were to turn the key before s...

I went on vacation with mine and was justa slurrin and a spittin all over the Carribbean! So I feel your pain! The good thing is that you are going to get a chance to get ...
