Popcorn

I know we're not supposed to eat it with braces, but I've been braced for a month now and crave popcorn just about more than any of the other foods I've had to give up. Anyone manage to eat some popcorn every now and then without too many problems?

Newly Braced -- My Story

I've always been very self-conscious about my smile. Past consultations typically concluded that I needed surgery to correct my mild underbite and a few misaligned teeth. But after doing the research, I decided that I was unwilling to go through the lengthy, painful recovery associated with the surg...

Thanks, guys. This is all very helpful. I'm doing my pro/con calculation and leaning heavily toward the surgery. The speaking thing is particularly tiresome for me today!

Underbite and Speech Impediment?

I'm contemplating surgery because -- in addition to cosmetic concerns -- my modest underbite causes a slight speech impediment. I have to struggle to enunciate sometimes, to properly say my "s's" etc. I tend to contort my face to do so, which tires out the facial muscles, jaw joint, etc. A...

BrianRex, Sorta depends on what type of surgery you need? Would it be lower, upper, both? Many surgeries now do not require such extreme movement restrictions. I will be having lower jaw surgery in May 2007. I will not be wired shut, or splinted, on lightly banded. My OS said I will be able to eat ...

Contemplating Surgery

I've had a few consultations in the last two months and the oral surgeons and orthodontists agree that I need surgery to correct a malocclusion that from time to time affects my speech (difficult to pronounce "s"s), causes facial tension when my jaw muscles tire (I do lots of public speaki...
