HI Schoenmomma, I live in Austin and will be having orthognathic surgery early next year. Dr Andrea Quaroni will be performing my surgery. He took out my wisdom teeth this year and did an excellent job. He will be performing lower jaw surgery on me. If you haven't had a consulation with him yet, I w...

This is typical for most insurance plans. They generally want xrays, molds, etc to make sure the surgery is not "cosmetic". If possible, keep a copy of all letters that your os sends to your insurance company in case there is any problems later down the road. I deal with insurance companie...

I've had a clear powerchain since I got braced (so about 3 months now). Mine turns yellow after about two weeks and I don't drink coffee and very little tea. To me it is noticeable, however everyone else tells me they can not tell a difference.

I was told by my ortho that I would need to get my wisdom teeth removed at least 6 months before my surgery date. He said it takes this long for the bone to heal up. I chose to have them removed before I got braced so I would not have to worry.

I got Inspire ICE brackets in April and they are not self ligatured. You can still get colored ligs. I personally love mine.

1. Severe enough
2. Braces and surgery
3. Estimated time 24-30 months. If I have it my way it will be 24 months only.

It really depends on the plan you are choosing. Each plan is different for each insurance. So before you make a decision, read the benefit documents and see if there are any exclusions for this surgery. I have Humana as my secondary insurance and they will not cover this surgery.

Gelato

Ok, so I had some strawberry gelato this past weekend and within about 30 minutes of eating it my clear ligs were bright yellow. You would have thought I ate a bottle of mustard. I have googled the ingredents but can't figure out what caused this. Has anyone else had this problem? I have eaten straw...

Count me into the whistling club. I noticed it the first day I got braces and still do it 2 months later.

My mouth is very dry since I got braces. I find myself licking the top of my braces with my tongue just to get them a little wet. And if I talk to someone for a long time, my top braces feel funny.....like your teeth feel when you first wake up in the morning, Yuck! I don't know, maybe it's just me...

Has anyone else experienced their mouth drier than normal since braced? It seems like since I got braced my mouth is always dry.

Waterpic or Floss?

Just curious who on the board uses their waterpic instead of floss without any problems with cavities and such? I have only been using my waterpic lately because my teeth are still too sore. I tried to floss last night and I though I was going to jump out of my skin due to the pain. I am worried the...

mrs z...my ortho would not do clear on my bottom either and I am paying nearly $7000 for my braces. I worked for a ortho for a short period of time and he would not do clear on bottoms either. So I don't think you are getting ripped of. :) If you are unhappy with the gold, I would definately go back...
