Rage, congratulations! Happy to hear you are feeling good. Now that you have braces, the spacers are just a memory.

It's taken me almost 2 weeks to feel like I can't "feel" my braces anymore..the braces almost feel like a natural part of me now.

Glad that you are feeling better :D

Eric, wonderful that you are taking action now to correct your underbite. I knew I needed orthondontic treatment from about your age, but my parents couldn't afford it. I was full-time uni student by then also and money was always tight! I am 35 now and have had to endure years of hating my teeth an...

Thanks for the link Iceolated! I was wondering about LoobyLou's question myself, as I have been told I will require elastics at a later stage of treatment (I have an overbite) :D

The ortho I finally went with is at a well-established, busy practice. They are all specialist orthodontists (not dentists). After 2 consults, and application of my separators (spacers) I decided I would pay up-front with a 5% discount. Otherwise, they asked me to pay $1650 up-front and $200 per mon...

Did any one that had 8 spacers put in also have 8 molar bands put on? I know I need two sets of molar bands on my top, for the headgear. I was wondering if they will be able to get both sets of bands on, or will I have to use spacers again before they can band the way backs. I am pretty sure I will...

Hi brandyshea, :D

Your story and pics are great, I can notice quite a bit of movement there, good news for you. Hopefully I will have movement like that also after 4 weeks, my top 2 front teeth look similar to what yours did.....

Good Luck!

KK the salt-water rinses are GREAT, I try to do that as often as possible and it's definitely helped. Nikki, my 1st adjustment is on the same day as yours, 11 May :) I do alot of talking at work (customer service) and being on Day 6 with braces, at the end of a work shift, I am finding that my botto...

Hi there Argenta! It's great to meet another Aussie on here. Good on you for having the courage to go ahead and do what needs to be done in order to keep the teeth you have. One of my motivators to being braced was to fix my teeth to make them easy to clean and therefore KEEP! :D Good luck with ever...

Hi again rage31, I replied to you on another thread but I came over to read your story and just had to say thanks for sharing your pics and journey so far... Wow, I admire your courage, it's just awesome that you're taking these steps to remove the cause of your pain and discomfort. I also found I h...

Hi :D

I had 8 rubber spacers before being braced, (still have 2 around one tooth). I broke a few due to my over-zealous chewing so be careful, even with the chewing gum! "Soft food, chew slowly", was the lesson I learned.

Good luck!

Thanks for your kind words rage31, I think it's because I have needed and wanted braces for so long that it's (relatively) easy for me at the age of 35. I am OVER having bad teeth, I want to be proud of my smile and to feel comfortable when I chew and eat (overbite). I hope you're not having too muc...
