Actually, your post helped me understand how things work around here, so it was helpful - and I never knew orthos put Damons on children. Thanks. :D

I know lots of people are happy. In fact my ortho said my case was "abnormal" for Damons, so I figured most people would be happy. I figured I could post my response, too, even if it wasn't positive, or is that not OK? I didn't mean to make anyone angry. I'm sorry if I did.

Congrats on doing your homework. How I wish I had. You are very right about Damons and marketing, but my ortho is really "sold" on them, for a number of reasons. If you want to read an interesting article on self-ligating brackets, which is what Damon sells itself on, go to Journal of Orth...

As I understand it, Damons are a kind of bracket (still metal, but smaller) that are considered "self-ligating" - something about how the wire moves with less friction and with lighterweight metal. The benefit is that you only need adjustments every 8 weeks, and treatment time is generally...

Welcome today53. I'm not exactly an expert at braces, having only had them a few months. From your comment about curry, I guess you are getting some ceramic since curry stains are not an issue with metal. But i'm guessing. In the "best" world, we'd all take a toothbrush with us when we go ...

Welcome! I was a psych minor (OK a while ago) and got a Masters in a related field, so I love to talk psych, or most anything else. I just got braces a few months ago and have been really struggling with them (Damon). Not pain or anything, but they are so fragile. What kind did you get? People on th...

I've had Damon 3s for a few months and, I think, I wish I had known what DrJ said before I got them. I think I must be some kind of mutant because I've been miserable. The edges are sharp, at least the ones on the brackets in the back and the inside of my cheeks are shredded. I guess the company tha...

This is what I learned from my discussions with a couple orthos - I brought up the topic of headgear specifically, to see if it was part of their treatment repertoire in general. Of the three, not one said they would use it on adults. All said that the same general effects could be achieved in other...

Both

Both - but that's because there is a time lag. I feel better after brushing, it kind of wakes me up, so I brush right after I shower after I get up. I usually don't eat until about an hour after I am up, so it's pretty routine to brush after I eat, too. Snacks, however, tend to get past me and my tr...
