Hi there I got a new (slightly) thicker wire at my first adjustment. The ortho said "Hmm, your teeth havent moved as much as some people's would have done so i'll give you an intermediate wire" Go back for my second adjustment on 17 July when I get another even (thicker) wire. Interested t...

Chris So pleased to read your post. Have been thinking I'm imagining stuff: that's exactly what I have. In the morming I wake up and can close my back teeth, by mid-morning I no longer can. THere definitely seem to be changes throughout the day and, as someone else wrote, the bite changes throughout...

I also wear Damons (Damon 3s) and have been braced for just over 3 months. I would echo the other contributors sentiments in that they have successfully widened my arches (top and bottom) and seem to be working well. I also, instinctively, prefer the approach of straightening teeth without extractio...

I'm in London so that's at least two of us - in fact three, because a receptionist at the foreign office, where I was the other week, also had them. We're everywhere, we're slowly taking over the world..............

I think the reason it shines things up is because of the acid in coke (citric and phosphoric) so it is basically eating away at the stains on the brackets etc. Unfortunately, the acids in coke also dissolve teeth enamel which is why its not a good idea to drink lots of coke. Have you ever seen that ...

Changing Orthodontists: London to Sydney

It looks as though I will need to change orthodontists in a few months when I move from London to Sydney. The move comes part way through my treatment and will last about a year. This means that I will still be in the passive (retention) phase by the time I come back. The move is work related and I ...

Hi there Yep, had (still have to some degree) the same problem. My lower front teeth moved out faster than my upper front teeth and, as the contact points change, so you start to clash your teeth. Not nice but not abnormal. Slowly you get used to the new position of your teeth and things get better ...

Hi I am based in the UK. I think you are right in that you are not obliged to go through a dentist if you wish to see an orthodontist. That said - and I appreciate you dont have a regular dentist - it is often best to see an orthodontist by way of referral. First, the dentist will not have any finan...

Dont Boil Your Mouthguard

Under the list of things I wished I known now comes "dont boil your mouthguard". Had started wearing it at night to reduce the pain of clenching my upper and lower teeth together. After a few nights thought I'd better clean it because it was beginning to look at little the worse for wear. ...

Upper and lower teeth rubbing together

Hi All In the last week I have found myself unable to properly close my back teeth because a lower front tooth seems ot have shifted forwards and now is catching/scraping against the inside of an upper front tooth - if you can visualised that. During the day I can cope with it but at night I must be...

I try not to think about them too much (or at least all the time). Time does pass quicker than we think and the mouth ulcers and sores will go. They do for everybody - although I know when you have them it doesnt seem like that. My biggest beef is that I never feel as though my mouth is quite clean ...

Thanks for the link to the site. I like the bit with the boxes - kind of orthodontia for dummies. I was also wondering from people's personal experiences whether things sometimes get (visually) worse before they get better. A couple of previously crooked lower teeth seem to be coming more into line ...
