First adjustment coming up
Hey out there. Thursday will be six weeks and my first adjustment. What should I expect. So far no complaints. I seem to do okay so long as I know what to expect and you all have been great. The information seems to be on track. From pressure to wiggly teeth, I haven't paniced because thanks to the ...

SMILE
I guess age does matter. I have had my braces for 6 weeks now and smile big every day. I smile more now than I did before. I think Kiwi is right when she says that your reaction is reflected back to you. I also chose the silver brackets and even though they are more noticeable, I use it as a convers...

Understanding
Congrats on the braces. I know what you mean about the stuff on the back teeth. My Otho called them towers. I have had them for almost 4 weeks. I don't know if they told you how long they would be there, but mine said until the teeth untangle enough to prevent the top teeth biting off the bottom bra...

Don't look back
You will start to see movement quick enough. I've been in upper and lowers for 2 1/2 weeks. Be glad they started with uppers. I also have an overbite and since they put both on at the same time, they built up 2 molars so now I can' chew because my teeth only come together where they built up the two...

People don't realize how they can hurt.
I can only imagine how you felt being teased. Keep up a good outlook. You will have straight wonderful teeth when this is over and unfortunately they will still be jerks. I was also told to use toothpaste for sensitive teeth but had been using it alot anyway. Although I hate the taste of salt, I thi...

WOW
I think you have brought a very valid point up. Hopefully the orthodontist and any health care professional you choose communicates. If you don't trust find another professional to go to. I can sympathize as I also am a survivor. The way I have dealt with it was finding a path that led me to the tru...

good luck
Hey rage. tomorrow is your big day. I hope all goes smooth. Everyone has given good advice on this board. The braces feel like they sit pretty far off your teeth but it's really not bad. I have heard a lot of people say it wasn't really noticed but that hasn't been my experience. Everyone has notice...

Their on
I won't say that the process was fun but it was painless. Maybe I just keep my mouth running usually so it wasn't so different. They told me they were going to put on the tops only when we did the treatment plan but yesterday they went wild and put them all on. I'm kind of glad except, they had to p...

Pretty new myself
Braces went on yesterday. Full top and bottom. I've never heard of a rick-a-nator but they put towers on 2 lower molars to keep me from biting off the bottom brackets. I feel your pain with the lisp. As one who has always had good speech, this is going to be fun. I was expecting more more soreness b...

count down in hours
It's 10:15 at night and tomorrow at 1:15 I get braced. I think just uppers first. I can't wait to get these darned spacers out. I hope they band the lowers even if they don't put the brackets on there. I don't know if I can take spacers again. Excited and a little nervous. Thanks to all of you for p...

Not too far behind
Hi Betty Bat, My name is Helen and I'm getting braced tomorrow. I am turning 47 in June. It is helpful to know that there are others around my age that have strarted the process. I'm in college pursuing my Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Degree and as a result hear a lot of people asking me if I'm ...

Thanks for the replies. Spacers have been on for 4 days now and the discomfort is minimal but I can't help but play with them. Brace day is next Thursday and the butterflies are busy. I keep thinking, at 46 why would I want to do this? I'm a junior in college and work a full time job and I'm ...

Looking forward to joining the club. Spacers put in on Monday with braces scheduled for next thursday. I didn't realize eating would be a prob until the brackets were on.
Spacers aren't all that bad. Any great ideas on soft foods.
