Knownothing - Yep, he's my regular dentist and my ortho as well. It's quite convenient actually - last visit for instance, I had my ortho adjustment and my six-month check up on the same visit. I can kill two birds with one stone, or in other words, get two appointments with one co-pay. I don't know...

Want to see a cool progress video?
This video is from my Ortho's website... When I had my consult from him, he said that my teeth were really similar to the person's in the video, and that he would use the same techniques on me that he used on that person. http://www.toblergentledental.com/ortho.htm Click on the 'Watch Ortho at work'...

I have an Oral Breeze Quickpick that I'm in love with. I've had water picks in the past, and I have to say that I prefer my new Oral Breeze. There's no tank to fill and take up space in my teeny bathroom. I just pop the hose onto my faucet and I'm ready to go. I cannot believe the garbage that it cl...

Please tell me this is normal... powerchains and gaps
Hello! I don't get to post very often, so I'll give a little background first. I got my braces on 8 months ago for an overbite and upper and lower crowding. I had 4 extractions right off the bat. My upper teeth have moved quicker than my lowers, and at my last visit, my ortho put on powerchains to c...

Are TePe brushes sold in stores in the US? Or a cheaper sub?
Hey everyone.... I've been wanting to try out TePe interdental brushes, since they look a lot more slender than the proxy brushes I can find at the supermarket. I'm looking for something good to clean around my molar bands. However, the only place I've been able to find them is online at dentist.net...

Did your boyfriend know you had food stuck to your front teeth?! If he didn't notice, maybe no one else did either? Maybe you should do something like Ravishing and her husband do... work out with your boyfriend some sort of code word or gesture to let you know you have a stowaway on your teeth :Hug...

I have 8 molar bands - 1 on each of the molars farthest back on each side on top, and 1 on each of the 3 farthest back, each side, on the bottom. My bottom teeth were much more crowded... I wonder if that's why I have so many more on the bottom? I keep meaning to ask my ortho about the set up, but I...

Well, I'm back from my appt. No magic answers from my ortho. When I asked him if there was anything I could do to keep food out of the space, he just said to try and not chew on that side, and that I would probably have to clean that space out a couple more times before it healed up. Basically what ...

How are molar bands removed?
I'm a little obsessed with my molar bands lately, partly because of this problem... http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=14189 Anyway, I've been wondering... how do they remove molar bands? All the cement they use makes me think that the process would be either a) painful or b) labor inte...

I keep getting food stuck in between two molars
Hello! I've had braces for about 6 months now and mostly lurk on the board. About two months ago, my ortho placed spacers inbetween the back two top molars on each side (I hope that made sense). Then a month ago he placed molar bands on each of the top molars farthest back. So here's my problem... f...

My husband and I have double coverage through the same dental insurance... combined it's covering $3000 of my treatment. Luckily, my insurance covers adults as well.

My parent's couldn't afford braces for me when I was younger. When I was 18 I received a small inheritance... enough to get either braces or a car. I decided to get the car, braces be damned. This year I finally have good enough insurance to be able to afford them. I'll only have to pay $700 out of ...
