powerchains

ok, so i was under the impression that elastic powerchains were for CLOSING gaps only. but i just read something KK wrote in another post about powerchains pulling teeth apart. <<I>> has anyone else heard about powerchains also pulling teeth apart? the reason i am so curious is because i also have m...

frustrated!

i want to be done with my treatment! everything is going well and according to my ortho, i am on track, so i can't complain there. my expected treatment period is only 18months (i know this is not long compared to many other people) and i'm now halfway through. but sometimes i just feel so impatient...

how often does everyone get adjustments?

i go in roughly every 10 weeks. most people that i've known in the past go in once a month or 6 weeks. any ideas why my appointments are so spaced out?

um yeah, that many brackets falling off is INSANE! i know some people break 1 or 2 during their whole treatment... but i eat whatever i want (even certain no-no foods) and have yet to break anything yet after 10 months.

hey rainyday2, i had tie wires on all of my brackets for at least the first 6 months. then they changed me to clips, which were much whiter than my clear top brackets, so i requested the clear ligs. now i have all ligs on top except for the front 2 teeth, which they left tie wires on. i asked why th...

Ok, I got a little creative and giddy with my list. :) 1. Closed mouth smiles look weird now (on me) 2. Open mouth smiles also look weird. :) 3. My usually flat lips look bigger. yay! 4. It hurts when you are smiling and your overweight cat decides to walk across your face and just happens to rest A...

i know exactly what you mean! i've had my braces for almost 9 months and it was only a few months ago that i stopped noticing tongue irritation from my bands. i used to use wax for this and when i did, i preferred the wax provided by my ortho, which i am guessing is the one that doesn't stick as wel...

speaking of pain, it has been 4 days since the adjustment that caused 1mm+ movement and both my upper and bottom roots are still ACHING! like i said before, i have 3 springs at the bottom to correct crowding and my ortho gave me what he called "a much stronger archwire" (this time a square...

i just got some springs put in to space out my lower crowding and i'm pretty sure that one of my teeth moved 1mm in one day! 2 hours after the appointment to be exact!! i have a gap now. it makes flossing easier i guess... is it normal for this to happen from time to time or should i expect my tooth...

ligatures and tie wires

Does anyone know why tie wires are used sometimes instead of ligatures?

Thanks!
