I know. I have a call into them to get the exact cost again. But as I said, I'm going to also visit another surgeon. This office is one of the top in the area I believe. They have worked on some of the Steelers. I felt very comfortable with the surgeon, but that is just out of the question for me.

Hi Babe, I have the same problem. I really have to force my lips together to close them unless I move my lower jaw forward. I'm trying to get approval for lower jaw advancement. That is my only option. But I have a 9mm overjet. Braces may close the gap to a 6 mm overjet, but that still will not help...

Sure, it is Health Assurance. I called them today and told them our policy was renewed and I was wondering if there are any instances where orthognathic surgery is covered. Now this girl told me to have the Dr. write a detailed description of my problem and give it a try. I know the surgeon's person...

The OS office submitted the info. to my insurance and was told they will not cover it. No matter what. I thought the $20,000 was high too after reading other posts. I may go to another surgeon and see what their costs would be. I could handle $10,000. I would do it in a minute. Some people think I s...

Anyone having surgery without insurance coverage?

I had made up my mind to go through with surgery when I found out my insurance did not cover it. There was a chance that our insurance was going to change and the surgery would be covered. It did not change and Health Assurance WILL NOT cover it. I'm so upset now. I hate to keep putting it off year ...

Good way to look at it! I just keep laughing cause my 10 year old is horrified of me having to drive her to school and activities. We joke around so much she should be used to the idea once this all happens. I don't even have braces yet!

Hi! I am in the same boat with the 8mm overbite. My current insurance (Health Assurance) will not cover the surgery no matter what. We may be switching to Highmark which I hear usually will cover the surgery. The first ortho told me she could not help me without surgery. The second said she could us...

Hi Jane! Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear your story. It makes me feel so much better about considering to go forth with lower jaw advancement. I can't believe how much you have been out since you had it done! I was afraid the swelling and bruising would be so bad that I would not want to be out...

I will be getting braces soon and possible lower jaw advancement. I wore braces for 5 years as a teen, but still have an 8mm overbite. I have always had little bumps on the insides of both cheeks (right behind where my eye teeth are) from biting and never even gave it a thought that it was a sign of...

Chris, Thanks so much for leading me to your pics. Right now I cannot close my lips without strain. I read that you weren't able to either. You must have been so happy when you finally could. Good luck with everything! From what I am reading, everyone is very happy with their decision to have surger...

Hi Brandy! I can't believe it has been 54 days! I have followed your journey. You will eventually then have jaw surgery right? (so many cases to follow I can't keep them all straight). I have a small, narrow mouth and was wondering if SARPE would be suggested. But it hasn't. I think I know that I ha...

Hi Jane! You must be so excited to finally be at the surgery point. How long did it take to get there? I have been checking this site for months and know I have read many of your posts. I can't wait to hear how things go. I had a hysterectomy last April (at age 33) and it was no walk in the part. Th...

The funny thing is I found her because our dental insurance changed and I had to switch. She is so wonderful and finally has me taking care of my teeth! I really feel confident in what she tells me. She even gave me her home number and cell phone. You do not find that kind of caring doctor/dentist t...

Just an update. I decided to call my dentist who I completely trust and who's opinion I value. She is going to call the surgeon (who is wonderful) and discuss the two opinions I received. She said he is not one of the surgeons who thinks "100%" surgery all of the time. He will way the opti...

I had so many teeth pulled with the first set of braces that they cannot pull anything else. Are the teeth moving quickly for you? How uncomfortable is the appliance??
