I have a fixed retainer top and bottom but also clear retainers top and bottom to wear for 12 hours a day (when I get home from work). I must say they feel very bulky...almost making me want to gag. I can't close my mouth...when I try to bite my back teeth on the left touch first and its a really we...

And they're off!
Tomorrow is the day my braces finally come off (they have been on for 20 months). Its kind of a weird feeling. I remember the shock of having them first put on... I was 31, had receding gums and a horrible smile. I can remember posting on this site all the time because of the awful shock. I felt tha...

Wow! that is spooky! last week I went in to get my wires changed. Every time I visit it is a running joke about how impossible it is to get my damon 3's opened (I only have them on the bottom). Apparently I have a lot of calcium in my saliva which means tartar can build up very easily even though I ...

I have 1...

Congratulations on your teeth. I am very jealous. My ortho is in Milton Keynes. I asked him if he could do my adjustments every 4 weeks but he said he only does them every 6 weeks which is very frustrating when I hear that you were all fixed in 14 months. Mine is going to be nearly 2 years! Nevermin...

I also had perio disease before I started treatment. Part of the cause of it was my crooked teeth at the bottom which i didn't clean properly. My ortho insisted I go to a periodontist before my treatment started. i have approx 15% bone loss with quite major gum recession. I have to go for cleanings ...

Hi Gempop I am in the same situation as you. I have been referred to the NHS in Bedford and have been told that I am going to need a LeFortI osteotomy and a sagittal split osteotomy. Are these the same operations you need? I too show more gum on one side of my face than the other. The problem with m...
