Humm, ok, well I don't seem to have any solder points.... Dunno what to do now, I've just bought a pack so may just give them a go for a few days more and watch for any tiny signs of damage or weakness. I checked some websites selling the stuff and they all seem to promote its use for any retainer -...

Due to Lynn's warnings, I rarely use RB for my Hawleys - almost never for the one with solder points. I'm managing to keep them in nice shape just with regular brushing. I do keep a separate brush for the retainers though, as I find them to be a bit tough on brushes. The rare occasions where I do l...

Retainer Brite for Hawley

Hi forgot to ask in my last post, how long do people leave their Hawley retainers in the Retainer Brite solution? It says on the pack 10 mins but 5 mins for "wire appliances"..... is this long enough do you think to clean?

Retainer Lisp

Grr, this lisp seems to have got no better in the past 5 days.... in saying that sometimes sentences come out perfect and others are completely muffled. People are having trouble understanding me : ( On the plus side, I do have brilliant new teeth, and meal time is a joy (get to leave the retainers ...

Well I'm allergic to Nickle and was very worried about the metal in my mouth. My ortho consulted a lot of other experts and they all agreed that it was ok to put metal with nickle in it in my mouth as the mouth is not a place where allergic reactions like that occur, only on the skin. So I got norma...

How important is it to floss, really?

I hate flossing, it hurts... How important is it? I'd appreciate people even telling me what may happen if I don't, to scare me into it!!

Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice, I went for a tub of ice cream :-) No possibility of things sticking then! Really looking forward to being able to eat normally again - possibly only another week to go until that goal is reached. Although.... am having a tooth out tomorrow so not so sure how that will...

Newbie - What can I eat at the cinema?

Hi All,

Just thought I'd ask! I'm in my full braces now about a week and a half, still sore and sensitive. So I'm going to the cinema tomorrow and love to nibble away on popcorn, nuts or nachos. Anybody have any suggestions for Newbiw Snacks?

Thanks!

Give it a week

Hi Wazza, It seems impossible now but in a weeks time you'll be feeling so much better. Take it very slowly with your foods and you'll soon build up considence to try soft things. After 5 days I managed to munch softly on chips :) Have soup, custard, and if it is BBQ weather where you are, have ice ...

Warm Salted Water Rinse

As Im new to all this, I meant to ask, how often do people tend to rinse with salted water? I've seen it mentioned a few times..... Is this a once a day thing, and before or after mouthwash?
