That's awesome that you've found a way to afford it :)! I was very fortunate. The first Ortho office I went into was very affordable even without insurance or a dental plan. It was $129 down and then $129 a month for two and a half years plus $516 for the retainers, which is definitly something I ca...
The first night was the worst! I was so sore I couldn't even touch my teeth together by the end of the night. By day 3 my cheeks/lips/tongue were all very cut up and hurt a lot. But by day 8 I am 100% back to normal! Thanks to lots of wax and salt water rinses my mouth has healed completely. I'm eve...
Lucyloop - That's awesome! I have an impacted canine (and two others stick out like fangs) so I know exactly how you feel! I can't wait until mine comes down .
Chris - I do the exact same thing. Partly because I'm still newly braced and I like to look at them .
I did it every night before bed. Always at least once per day. Whether or not you do it before or after mouth wash and brushing is really up to you. I didn't want the taste to stay in my mouth so I did it before. But do them! They help so much! Yesterday was a week after getting braces on and I have...
I think the lack of energy is because I'm not eating what I should. My diet is pretty limited (a lot of that is because I don't want to eat something that's going to take me forever to clean out). When I take vitamins and iron supplements I feel much better.
Spacers suck :). They were definitly the worst part for me. My best piece of advice is to not worry about what other people are thinking so much :)! If you act like they don't bother you nobody will say anything. I pretend like I don't even have braces and no one has made a single comment. I'm 21 an...
You got braced three days after I did! And, yes, making an "s" sound takes some getting used to. At first it sounded like I had a lisp . Eating real food for the first time was very strange. It was almost like my molars didn't meet correctly anymore! I'm on day four and my teeth are b...
I managed to floss last night. It took about 25 minutes but I got it . The only thing was I couldn't get to my back teeth. That's something else that's going to take some practice. But bending the tip helped a lot!
Bending the tip is a great idea. Part of the problem was feeding it through the wire. My biggest issue is using the floss. My mouth is very small and its really awkward trying to get behind my teeth to floss. I've never used regular floss before - I used this thing that had a body like a toothbrush ...
Today when I went to my orthodontist to get my braces on they gave me these flossers. They've got a stiff wire to get in under the wire, then a spongy part to clean the wire, and then the actual floss. I could NOT get these things to work! I finally just gave up. I know flossing is really important....
Thanks for all the supportive replies! Today went well. I was surprised at how quickly everything went. The worst part was the water. She would blow cold water on my teeth and I have very sensitive teeth so it was pretty painful. Here is a before picture: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/saber...
