Powerchain change and gap questions

Hello all, I tend not to post often, but within the past few days a couple of questions have popped up... I had SARPE on 11/21/06. I expanded until mid-December then stopped. 6 weeks later, the ortho made me start expanding again. This was painful as apparently my palate had already fused back toget...

Hey, guys. I just wanted to add what I know to the discussion at hand. The waterpik flosser is not what people normally think of as a waterpik. Instead, it is a handle like an electric tootbrush and a tip that is meant to be used as floss. The difference is that the tip is harder than floss, and it'...

4/26 adjustment ***Now, with pictures :)***

Well, I went in for my adjustment today, and I had a very eventful time :) The ortho removed the wires behind my canines from the expander as well as the wires going from the middle of the expander to the 4's. Then, I was fitted with a powerchain from 4-4 on the upper. As for the bottom, I got a new...

Hey, guys! Well, as of today, I am tentatively done with my reexpansion process. I am back to just over 5 mm between my two front teeth. (First it was 8.5, then down to 3, now back to 5 btw) Man, I definitely didn't miss the feeling of my lowers hitting metal, my jaw feeling loose, or the sores on m...

Hey Everyone!!! Just wanted to post a little update on my progress. I am slightly concerned as the ortho told me on 3/1 that he wanted me to expand more. I have not turned the key since mid-December. So, I have been in much pain since Thursday. I spent most of the weekend in bed as my mouth was just...

Thanks so much for the kind words everyone! For some reason, this second round of expansion is much more painful than the first. I spent most of this weekend on bed because anything I did would make my mouth more sore. I have now completed 4/10 days of turning. There are only 3 more days until I spe...

Thanks guys :) I am getting ready to do the first turn of 10...it's been a while... I assume he put the ligs on for comfort, although they are not doing anything for where my lip is hitting the brackets anyway. Usually they are only there to secure the archwire into the bracket. Maybe he thought I w...

LOL, no actually I hadn't even brushed them since before my ortho appt. I had the appt at 7:30, and then I drove back to school with breakfast on the way :)

That had been a few hours and a meal after anything had cleaned my teeth in the slightest.

Alright, kk, You sucked me in. Today when I was looking at the colors, I just kept going back to this pretty metallic purple I saw...so I did it! I also decided that since I did the purple, I should make my first post in this topic to make sure you would see it :) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...

Thanks for the pointers :) I thought about wax, but I didn't want to seem like a wimp....perhaps I will just cover each bracket with wax! That may look funny, but at least it will be more comfortable  I guess if anyone wants to stare at the weirdo with wax on all her teeth, then they can. If i...

They took my archwire away!!!

So, I had another adjustment this morning. I went in planning to beg and plead with the ortho to remove the evil expander from my mouth. However, the visit went much different than I expected. He let the assistant put in a new archwire and everything. The new archwire was an 18 moving up from the 15...

Thank you!! I sent the same picture to my parents, but they don't quite seem to understand. I have only had the braces for about a month and a half, so I thought it was big progress. Oh, well, I guess it's because they have no previous experience with orthodontics. That's why we have each other :) J...

Thank you! I sent my parents the picture in an e-mail....they don't quite seem to understand why I am so happy with it. Oh, well, I guess it's because they've not had any experience with orthodontics before. :)

3 month post SARPE

Just wanted to post a small update for anyone who was wondering. I am now three months post op from the SARPE procedure. My uppers are still completely numb, but I guess that just takes patience. As for the gap, it is getting smaller daily. Another positive is that my overlapping central and lateral...
