ssfw The open bite occured while in braces. ( I never had a problem with my bite in the back before braces ) I had mentioned that I was having trouble chewing and was told by one of the assistants that I shouldn't worry it would correct itself. I assumed it would and never mentioned it again. (I sho...

Getting Re-Braced after 7 months

Hey Guys, Anyone else have this problem? Got my braces off in December after having them on for 2 1/2 years. Recently went to my dentist and mentioned that my back bite is off. He told me I need to see the Ortho because I have an open bite in the back and could end up with TMJ if not fixed. Went to ...

Ouch

Wax is certain to help. I use it whenever I have a bothersome sore and it works quite well. Also salt water rinses will help heal much faster. Good luck!

The 2 molar bands that I have on the top have buccal tubes with little hooks above them and the bottom bands just have hooks for elastics but no tubes. I'm not sure why, but I did read somewhere that it is easier for the ortho to just use the same bands for different uses . The tubes can be annoying...

I have to say eating granola is tough. There are so many little pieces that get caught in the brackets it take a long time to clean although I am very thankful that I have a water pik, It is great.

I had a choice of ceramic or metal. I asked my ortho what he prefers
and he prefers metal only because it usually the treatment time is shorter.
Honestly it didn't matter to me anyway so I chose the metal.
Whatever you choose I'm sure you will be happy.
Happy Bracing!

Thanks for everyones encouragement! My teeth are very sensitive now
I try not to think about it. I'm ok if I don't try to bite down. Will take it one day at a time I guess.
thanks again everyone.

I'm Braced!

I got braced today! Full metal uppers and lowers w/4 molar bands. It was a very interesting experience to say the least. I don't know what was worse the cement from the bands or the horrible taste I got from the etchant yuck! :yuck: Other than that it went fairly quick only took about an hour. I mus...

Hi,
I've had 8 spacers in for 5 days now and I can tell you it will get better!
Just give it a day or 2. I don't even notice them unless I bite down. Just take small bites and try to eat softer things.
Best of luck!

I got my spacers in (8 of them) early this morning and have had them in about 10 hours and although they are a little uncomfortable I can't say they are painful. Just feels like something is stuck in your teeth and you want to floss it out. Eating is tricky because I cannot bite all the way down on ...
