Looking good, nahky! I bet you're eager to be done with it... three weeks of not chewing sucks, but I'm sure you'll be through it quickly enough that it won't matter. Happy healing!

Cheers juf_84! I've known how to floss but never really been able to do it well because of the crowding, which is one of the main reasons I finally got around to doing this myself. Keep at it, I hear it does great things for your teeth and gums. ;) My first cleaning hurt a bit as well, but after a f...

Wow, that's really a marked improvement... I'm sorry to hear your arches are coming out of alignment, but I imagine the bands will help and hopefully they'll start correcting as quickly as the rest of your mouth does.

I hope my mouth advances as quickly as yours, congratulations!

Thanks for the kind words everyone - and rage, your story's pretty brutal, makes me realize how lucky I am to have such a relatively basic ordeal to go through. I finally got around to doing pics up, firstly I don't know how you all get such good images unless you've got help... I took all these by ...

Congratulations! As one who was most often smiling while drunk before as well, I look forward to being able to show off myself in two years...

Glad to hear your road to a better smile's paid off.

Wow congrats Denise... that herbst device looks pretty fierce, but hopefully it isn't bothering you too much. I'm only a week in so I'm definitely jealous of all your progress, hope you can be metal-free by your birthday in September!

Thanks to you both - didn't have time to get pictures after cleaning my teeth this morning (because really, who wants to see the pictures BEFORE they're clean?) but I've already got one snag... last night I decided that I should be okay eating a tuna fish sandwich, I had the last bit of some tune I ...

Thanks KK & Linda, I know this forum's done a lot of good for other braces-wearers so I'm glad to be part of the fun. There definitely is a lot of useful info here.

Already one development in the saga today, so stay tuned! haha.

the tale of my teeth (now with pictures!)

I guess I'll be noting my progress, with pictures where appropriate if I can get them, in this thread. For now you can read my backstory here, and I will update this as time and work permit. So far the only tangible progress is my teeth feeling a bit 'loose' - more different I guess, as there's no a...

20+ years of improper care

Howdy everyone... just another new reader checking in now that I too have joined the club. I got my braces put on one week ago, right after my 30th birthday. Up until last year I hadn't even as much as seen a dentist for a cleaning since before I was 10 (I don't remember how long exactly). I always ...

If power is the only issue in terms of getting the WaterPik in AU, has anyone considered the faucet-attached variety? I bought one from a website right after getting my braces on and it's been great, runs completely on the pressure coming from the faucet, no batteries or anything. It's fairly light ...
