KJNELLAMORE - thanks, the blue served me pretty well for a while. As of today I've moved onto a nice purpleish color, may have a picture tonight. As for the Slurpees, sorry to hear you no longer have access to them, but maybe it's for the better. ;) Just sugar water and ice anyway, right? So this mo...

I don't close my eyes while brushing, I do close them while at the dentist / orthodizzle while they're working to prevent things flying out of my mouth into an eye socket however. This happened the first time I had my ligatures changed, luckily that day I was wearing my glasses. I think as long as y...

I just got my 4 extractions done two weeks ago, and the estimate on my completion is still two years. No idea how this could be shortened to 8-9 months but I'm definitely interested. :D

In an effort to get an apple a day into my diet I've been making my own smoothies for breakfast... I don't imagine they're as good as these mentioned above, but they do the trick and you can be as experimental as you want with them. My blender has become my most sacred ally in the war on chewing. My...

24 hours after extractions, gentle warm salt water rinses will help the healing and also soothe your mouth. My hubby had five teeth out last month ... and was back at work the following morning ... with a few pain killers and loads of salt water rinses, he said it was an easy experience. Yeah, it's...

Well, the good news is that I made it to a fellow orthodontist's office to get the wire snipped and since then, no problems. I was really jealous of the other ortho's office though - it's much bigger, and has a Slurpee machine (frozen ice drink, for those not in the US) and several video game machin...

Welcome cinnamongirl! As a Neil Young fan I have to give you props on your username... as far as colors go, I really liked having blue for the last month or so, but I'm thinking of switching to red next just for a change. I figure I've got two years so I may as well taste the rainbow. Hope you like ...

here here!

(there there!)

(where where?)

This forum is a real resource to those of us new to the experience and even those well into it to share their progress with the rest... and we all owe KK a great deal of thanks for her interminable enthusiasm keeping it going. Salut! KK!

hey! I feel I owe it to everyone to respond and tell how great the salt water has been working. Just a day after I started rinsing with it, both my canker sores were starting to recede and within a few more days they were gone... of course I lapsed after that and now I've got a tiny one starting rig...

Thanks for the replies everyone, both public and private... it sounds as though regular iodized salt is what works, so I'll try that in the warm water... hopefully once daily will do the trick, as it reminds me of doing the same rinse after having my wisdom teeth out. Not the best association. ;) No...

These are some great tips, everyone... I've got a raging canker sore due to one of my hooks battering my lips whiel sleeping, and will try anything at this point to get rid of it. We've got some HP upstairs that I'll try out right after breakfast. KK, does it matter what sort of salt you rinse with?...

More disaster

So this morning, trying to eat a cut up apple for breakfast, another wire popped out. This time it's the top wire, also on the left hand side, and it came out of three different brackets so it was just hanging there flapping about. Remembering my ortho's advice from last week I just snipped it off, ...

Welcome to the fold Chantel... it's great that so many of us are taking care of stuff onw that our parents' couldn't when we were younger, so congrats on being able to do this for yourself. More congrats on the shortened sentence, relatively speaking... I'm sure that we'll all decide this was a wort...
