I had a similar problem with invisalign. Started out with crowding on the top and a few small gaps in the bottom. Treating the two jaws as separate entities, does not work (ceramics on the bottom and invisalign on the top). I ended up with a completely dysfunctional bite. Long story short - I compla...

I went the other direction - started with invisalign - ended up with a completely disfunctional bite, and am now in lingual braces. I would not switch to invisalign unless there is only minor work to complete.

The big advantage of having upper and lower linguals is that you can wear elastics (if you need them) on the inside and no one will see them. With labial lowers they need to bond a small bracket to the outside of your upper teeth and elastics are. worn on the outside and very visible. Having had low...

I have an overjet and cross bite - a result of my orthodontist treating my top and bittom jaws as separate entities: invisalign to treat crowding on the top and ceramics to treat a gap on the bottom. I'm 1 year into my lingual treatment and am seeing good progress. I have linguals on top and the bot...

Hang in there - things do get better! I had invisalign (top) and ceramics (lower) before I got my linguals, so I was used to having a mouth full fo appliances, but I would choose linguals over the other two any day. I have had mine on for 10 months and have got to the point where I forget that I hav...

diehard - look at lingual braces. I love mine and find them much more comfortable and less visible than invisalign.

suedeness123: goodluck! I think you will be pleased. I waited 10 weeks for my ibraces to ship from Germany to the US. It is a long time to wait, but well worth it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks lionfish. My speech is back to normal to the point that I don't notice a difference at all. The Rainbow Passage helped me. I read it relentlessly, and it really helped. I have had my linguals on for 2 weeks now and couldn't be more pleased. My front tooth that had retreated up into my gum wit...

It took about 3 hours to fit my uppers and lowers, but my case is not as complex as yours. After a week and a half my speech is pretty much back to normal. Look for The Rainbow Passage on line and read it over and over again - it really helped me. Your tongue will adapt. I found it easier to speak w...

diehard - if in a few weeks things still don't feel right, ask your orthodontist the "hard questions" and expect answers. While I generally believe that the docs know best, and their professional judgement should not be second guessed at every turn, orthodontists have lttle control over in...

Well, I have had my lingual braces for just over a week. They are great. For those who may need traditional braces after invisalign, it is a great way to go. Completely invisible and easy to get used to after invisalign.

I have only just had my linguals (ibraces) fitted, but since nobody else has responded I will. Linguals braces don't hide your teeth so you get to see the change as it happens and there are no big surprises when the braces come off. It is normal to wear a retainer after having braces, no matter what...

Hi lionfish - I had an erupted upper wisdom tooth extracted a few months ago. It was a really simple procedure - a bit of local and a few tugs and it was out. No real pain or swelling. My regular dentist did mine too.
Good luck!
