Many thanks Way Too Old for This and kk (yet again!). I'm looking forward to trying it out. I too am in a country that doesn't sell Waterpiks - so thank heavens for ebay! I'm thinking if I like it I might also buy one for my dad because he's been having gum problems - have you guys noticed an improv...

At everybody's recommendation, I have ordered a waterpik but it hasn't arrived yet. But just one quick question to those who use it regularly: do you tend to use it before or after you brush/floss your teeth?

Hi Lisa65, I guess all the Americans are asleep right now, so I thought I'd send a quick message to offer you support. I know it's easy to say, but don't worry. Getting your lower brace on will be fine. I haven't had experience with a Nance appliance, but I'm sure that will be fine too. Just be prep...

Evidently, the "weirdness" comes from our pre-braces expectation of the attention our braces will receive in contrast to the reality, which makes me glad I started this thread, because it might be a comfort to any newbie thinking about getting braces but still afraid to take the plunge bec...

Glad to have got a lively discussion going, and to know I'm not the only one whose braces don't get any attention. I agree with Pirate Wench that once you get over the weirdness of no one mentioning them, it's actually quite nice because it helps you to forget they are there. By the way, I finally m...

Weird that friends etc don't mention braces?

I got my braces fitted exactly one month ago and, not being one who likes to draw attention to themself, confess I wasn't looking forward to having such a noticeable change in my appearance. Well, my closest friends, who knew I was getting braces, they all commented of course - they were all very co...

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. And special thanks once again to KK who, may I say, is truly a fountain of knowledge - you have so much good advice to give everyone. It's really appreciated.

Anyone know if disclosing tablets stain clear ligs?

Recently, I thought it might be a good idea to buy some disclosing tablets to check I'm brushing my teeth correctly (disclosing tablets, btw, are those things that show up lurking plaque), but just as I was about to throw the packet in my basket, I read on the back the info about how the tablets wou...

Okay, I know I'm boring boring boring, but I've got ceramic tops and bottoms and was fitted with clear ligs when I had them put on three weeks ago (I wasn't given a choice). They haven't stained too badly to my surprise, but it is annoying having to worry about them. I've heard the smoke coloured li...

I was also a June 14th bracee! And though I don't yet have squishy teeth, my back ones are popping/creaking each time I bite down, and my front ones feel almost like I could move them if I pushed on them hard. I even felt them move today just from the pressure of applying lip balm! It's weird.

missing lig - will this be a problem?

I noticed as I was cleaning my teeth the other day that one of the ligs must have popped off on one of my back bottom teeth just in front of the banded molar. I'm still new to braces (3 weeks), so am wondering if this is a. common and b. a big problem. My orthodontist's office is closed till next we...

sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum by accident, and now don't know how to delete it. I've reposted on the main forum, adding a question about Waterpiks. But to those who've already replied here, thank you!

What floss do you recommend? Any experience with a Waterpik?

Up till now I've been using the little blue plastic threaders for flossing that my hygienist recommended to me, but I find them really fiddly and they make flossing even more time-consuming that it already is with braces. Thus, I figured I'd ask you guys if anyone has used the different types of flo...
