Well another way to think of it is it gives you time to menatlly and physically prepare yourself. If your body isn't were it needs to be before surgery this allows you time to work at it. Wether you need to gain weight, or if you could use some time in the gym. The better shape your body is in befor...

I have to say I agree with Kate on this one. BSSO it seems is easier for some than others...but you are much better of to have the meds if you need them. I just had BSSO and Lefort I a little over a week ago. I tried to manage the pain with Vicadin...and soon found out that is just wasn't enough. I ...

I had SARPE in July, and then double jaw last week. I barely was getting full feeling back in my upper gums 6 months down the road. It takes six months to a year to get back feeling. There are some places that may never have full sensation again. It won't be numb...but not quite like it was prior to...

I had SARPE (upper jaw expansion) in July, and last week I had BSSO (lower jaw split and advancement) and Lefort I ( upper jaw moved forward) I had additional movements made on my lower jaw d...

FFT, Well I was in some what of the same boat as you. I was in the 7th grade when my OD informed me that I would not be able to correct my bite w/ braces alone. At the time my teeth looked wonderful, so I totally didn't care. Well now I am about 10 years older and my teeth and facial structure have ...

Toni-- The surgery sounds like SARPE, which is very common in this lovely world of adult braces. I had mine done in July and am more than pleased w/ my results. I am going for surgery two on 9 Feb. Like mentioned by someone else...Brandy has a phenomenal Blog documenting her adventure w/ SARPE. She ...

I am going in for Lefort I and BSSO on 9 Feb. I just had SARPE in July, so I am relativly prepared for this surgery. However, I am curious to how much longer and severe recovery time is when you do upper and lower? My Mom will be coming down for the surgery, and I was wondering if anyone had any adv...

Good luck w/ your surgery tomorrow! I'm assuming you are having your surgery at Eglin? I am stationed at Hurlburt and just had SARPE in July. I am going to see Dr. Sheppard my OS next week for my second surgery. Is Dr. Sheppard doing your surgery also? I know you will be out of it for the next week ...

I would definetely recommend that you try to bulk up a little. When I started my braces adventure I was 5'6 125. After my surgery and still I am staying around 115. It is one thing to be thin, but it sucks to be thin and loose more weight and nothing fits anymore. Not to mention you should get your ...

Hello All! It has been a while since I have been on here, but it has been a while since I've had much progress. I am noticing something w/ my teeth that I haven't seen with other folks SARPE. Kim, After reading over your whole dilemas, and looking at your photos I think that well one Brandy is completely right ( she usually is) but on your insurance and wanting to rush things...it is totally do-able. I am in the military and need pretty much everything you need done. I had my consult in ...

I will be wearing the expander for three months. I asked about placing the TPA after two or so months. No such luck. I will be in this bad boy the whole time. I will also be having a second surgery. I will only have the Lefort I. So I am hoping it will be only slightly worse than the SARPE. Did they...

Phil, Yes it is amazing that we can get this done! I never thought pain could be so worth it!! Don't worry about expanding(even though I know you will). I was so nervous the first time that I had to lay down b/c I felt like I was going to pass out. All you feel is pressure. I had no pain on any of m...
