Hi I had the 4 bicuspids out just before bracing a month ago - I asked my orth about it (because I don't like eating with gaps) and he reckons a good 12 months before they are gone. Not what I had in mond but better to know and stop staring at them  Keep watching all the movement everywhere e...

Joney, your teeth are so not that bad! Of course they will look gorgeous when they are all straight but you never had a reason to hide your smile :D My teeth are a lot more wooky than yours and I still smiled like mad - people used to say I had a lovely smile and its only now with braces that some p...

Hi there Those build ups really are a pain - I've had mine for 3 weeks now and only have 2 contact points so chewing is a mighty adventure. I'm getting a tough old tongue from using it to chew against the roof of my mouth  but it works for some things and increases the variety...just not good...

Pain duration question

Hey there, so I've been reading through the posts about everyone having different experiences etc but am hoping someone can answer my question or relate to the situation....especially after reading so many where people really weren't bothered by their braces and were eating away again merrily quite ...

Aww kbelle hang in there!! I've had mine for 2 weeks now and can fully relate to what you are going through!! I had a good chuckle reading the responses too though!! I have a fairly serious overbite so when the ortho was finished mucking about putting them on I thought he'd forgotten to take somethi...

Well staining here we come because after my first foray into white wine last night (yuk) I can safely say we'll be back to red soon enough and getting coloured ligs to hide it! Had some curry last night (unchewed  ) abd it did nothing. I did make a brave attempt at chewing last night and that w...

Thanks guys. Yep those springs have me interested - I think I've probably looked at my teeth more in the last week than the last year!! With a bit of luck the top ones will soon stop trying to physically attach themselves to my front lip - it is physically impossible to smile, even talking is kinda ...

Hi MAf, I know what you mean about the smile - I sorta got used to mine being all wonky and really for years no one complained about it (and it certainly didn't affect the love life  I almost thought they were part of my personality, like I wouldn't be the same without my quirky teeth. funny t...

Hi Jen Sorry you're having hassles with the spacers!! The only trouble I had was dentist fiddling to get them in as I can relate to your gagging reflex, so sorry can't be of any help there. I got through the week by simply not chewing - if it couldn't go down whole it wasn't going there at all :wink...

Yeahhhh Bridget!!! What is it with those orthodontists - they do seem to like the semi upside down look!!! Maybe they just like us having to look up at them  Mine managed to drop a molar band which rolled dwn my throat thanks to being upside down - think he was waiting for me to be the first p...

Well here we go, my first photo in braces, I must be getting braver at showing them. Day 3 and I'm getting quite attached to them now and feeling a bit more normal. Still eating sludge though - agree with Maf, not sure how you can eat nuts, you must REALLY love them!! Luckily my beloved bubbly is on...
