Am hitting the same wall and just about feel like banging my head into it! Was supposed to be finished next month (WAS supposed to be getting married)...am at 26 months and over it. Still have huge gaps that are not co-operating so there is no way it will even be 2008. Yet another Xmas and birthday ...

Hi platinum. I thought I had sunburn on my face...as it was peeling. Then I thought maybe it was because I had been helping put out a bushfire on a farm and thought the heat and dryness might have caused it. But it got worse next time I had an adjustment. Turned out I had a sever latex allergy (ie t...

I know it is difficult and they can make you feel self conscious, but really WE are the only people that pay any attention to them! I got mine aged 34, was married at the time and my H never minded them, not even when they looked awful at the start, all he ever did was support the progress - even co...

Gap Closure

Hi All, I haven't been here in ages, trying to pretend they aren't there! Popped back in with a question. I got my braces on June 06 ( so just gone 2 yrs). I was supposed to get married next month as ortho was inclined to think they'd be off. Anyway, no wedding happening as I still have almost full ...

Banded 7's gripe

Ok this is not fun anymore! It's been a week since the 7s were banded and wired and I seriously know why he had so much difficulty getting the band on the LHS 7....its pretty much stuck in the jaw!! The tooth is as far back as it can get without being in my ear (suppose I should be grateful as thats...

I had it at the start, then all was well after about a month...now we're back with it again with the exact same two teeth as you. ASked ortho about it before I left (am getting better at this assertive thing lol) and he reckoned the tooth would move to compensate over the next week. And there's a fi...

ortho humour???

So just back from adjustment 4 where a sense of humour was required....banded 7's and a new wire on bottom (17 or 19 - he couldn't quite decide so I don't know what we ended up with apart from needing a crowbar to get it in). Anyway as he's rummaging away merrily muttering to himself about my challe...

Adjust 4 over and done.....and owww. Banding the 7's was gross, getting the new fat wire into the newly banded 7's was great fun.....I'm sure he thinks my head is one of those fliptop ones from the dental hygiene ads!! The ouchies hit about 3 hours after the adjust.......I just crept off to bed and ...

Diande you have my sympathy!! I wondered what the hell was going on with my lips after my second adjustment - no matter what I put on them they were cracked, itchy and just plain horrible...chemists didn't know what to give me (at one point they had me using stuff for lactating mothers cracked nippl...

Hi Newmetal. With my bottom lateral they waited until the springs had pushed a clear space for the tooth to come through before attaching the wire (hmm now for the first time in my life I have a gap in my teeth  ). With the top lateral, about a quarter of it was hiding behind my front tooth.....

Hi newmetal, I've just answered this on Methens query (that will teach me to read the posts in the right order!!!) - depends how close together the teeth are that need to be moved apart but anywhere between 3 and 6 months could be expected. And it is such a JOY when the spring gets taken off - I hat...

Hi I had springs top and bottom for the same problem - had them on for about 4 months before the they springs were removed and teeth attached to the archwire. After a further three weeks the teeth were aligned. Its very excitign and doesn't take nearly as long as you think it will - I was hoping to ...
