I just got powerchains (4 seperate pieces - 3 links each) to close the gaps where I had extractions.

HOLY MAMA!!! They do NOT feel nice. I can't wait though until they do their job - then I can get my last bracket on the canine growing in behind my other teeth. Woohoo!!

And again.....OUCH!

Well...went back to the ortho today just to get the wires extended all the way to the back teeth....or so I thought. Turns out I have power chains (3 links) over all the 4 gaps from the extractions. I'm surprised at how long it takes some people to get things going. From the time I said I wanted to go ahead (met the ortho - he poked around and gave me a quote) it was two weeks until the braces were in my mouth.

I would hate the waiting.

Unbelievable. I love these progress pics - everytime I see them I get so excited about having a straight archiwre.

Hey I can join this club I'm Dramagyrl's braces buddy! July 11th was the big day - pretty dang close to Aug 1st.

I've given up on the Super Floss and all that other fancy stuff. I just curl the end of a piece of regular floss with my thumb nail and hook it around the wire and pull it through.

I had such a hard time grabbing that stiff end of the floss.

I never even occured to me before getting braced to think about it. Glad to here that for the most part there are no problems

I'll be 33 next month and just got my braces on the 11th. I've always had crowding too, and it was time for me to do something about it. My son's teeth are coming in crooked and I realized that before I know it he will need braces and if I wait until then....I'd NEVER get these dang snaggleteeth fix...

They have these little stoppers on the end, but the sharp part of the wire sticks out of the end. The part sticking out hasn't gotten any worse at all since I got them, it's just really rough and sharp. YOUCH!

I go see my ortho next wednesday for my new wire so I will talk to him then.

The mushroom hooks haven't really bothered me (except for my lip getting caught on them when I smile ). It's the ends of the wire that are killing me.

I absolutely love that so many people post update pics. Being only 8 days into this crazy ride, I'm still so unsure of everything. These updates make me excited to see movement like that with my teeth.

The braces I'm in aren't Damons. The brand name is actually Speed Braces. I'm not sure how similar or different they are, but I'm thrilled with how tiny the brackets are

And yes...I WILL be smiling...with teeth showing, which is new for me.

Wow - that much movement in 5 weeks?? I can't WAIT to see that kind of progess with mine.
