LP's Speed braces story *adjustment update* Aug 31

Hi everyone, I've enjoyed reading some of the stories here and decided I would create my own. I guess I'll start with a little bit about myself. I'm 32 years old (33 next month) and have always wanted to get my teeth fixed. I've always had crooked upper teeth, but my lowers were fine until my mid-te...

Re: Hi

Hi LP, It is cool to find someone else who got them on the same day, and a fellow Canadian I notice. How long are you looking at for treatment? I am looking at 20 months they said, so that's why I hope my cheeks build up strength like my gums and lips did, because I sure don't want to deal with the...

I just had some teeth pulled last week and it was really no big deal at all. One of them had an "S" shaped hook at the end of the root and the dentist thought I might need oral surgery, but he yanked and twisted an pulled and it came out. Even THAT was no big deal at all. The worst part by...

Re: One Week

Today is officially one week for me since I got mine on. I think I kind of regret doing the clear brackets on the top because they look so mismatched with the metal bottom (I think pink elastics on the bottom kind of add to the odd look). I also found it much easier to adjust to the metal on the bo...

Congrats! I also feel like I have more saliva then I used to. I think it's just that it gets caught up in the braces. That and for the first couple days a didn't move my mouth more then I needed to so that probably contributed to the feeling of excess saliva. It's been one week today and although ea...

I was braced by 9:30am - had extractions by 4:00pm the same day, and late that night and early the next day is when it started to hurt for me.

Hi skittley, I'm a braces newbie too (one week tomorrow) and I too couldn't believe how weird it felt. These tiny little things felt like they stuck out an inch off of my teeth :? Today is the first day that I have forgotten they are there a couple times. If I'm just sitting still and not talking I ...

The worst so far has been bread. I had some mango yesterday with no problems at all, and had rice and chicken last night and nothing really got stuck at all. I'm actually quite surprised at how little gets stuck in them. Mind you being only a few days braced, I haven't tried a huge variety of things...

I had one where the pressure from the braces made several teeth fall out. When I woke up in the morning, I ran to the mirror first thing to be sure it wasn't true! OMG - I had that dream....*ahem*....nightmare, last night. In my dream I was sitting on the couch tickled pink about how my front teeth...

Thanks KK. I'll read that for sure. I'm going to have to google though to see if the Speed braces use all the same things as the standard braces.

Really? I would have never thought to put hydrogen peroxide in my mouth! I'll give it a whirl though. This wax thing is no fun. It comes off all the time and my teeth are really sore so to push against them with the wax is not fun

I'll try anything to help speed the process.

Silcone wax? Dang - I'm so new at all of this. I didn't know that existed.

Thanks for the tip.

Hmmm...I'm still braces illiterate :? I don't know what any of those are or what they look like. Are they things that most people in braces will have at some point or another during their treatment?

(I'm not trying to hijack)

How long did it take....

before the insides of your lips/cheeks stopped hurting? :Questions: Got braced on Tuesday and all is going well (I'd give my left arm to be able to bite into something but I'm dealing with that), but ouch my lips. :soremouth: I don't wax the front during the day because I go to work and it looks fun...
