AHHHH!
Okay this is kind of disturbing.. you know those little hooks that are on the outside of your molar bands? Well, mine dig into my gums like crazy but until now, it hasn't really caused any problems. I was brushing my teeth last night and realized that I have a HOLE in my cheek thanks to that stupid ...

OWW help please :(
I just got some elastics about a week ago .. they extend from my bottom back molars to my first molar up top. The elastic on the right hand side is seriously cutting into my cheek. I don't have this problem with the left.. it hurts sooo much, I think I have a permanent indent now :( Any ideas of how...

elastics
So I had my fourth adjustment yesterday.. and my ortho gave me elastics to wear. They go from the hook on my very back bottom molar.. to my first molar up top. And they hurt soooo much :( I hate them. First off, they were impossible to get on the first time.. it literally took me 10 minutes on one t...

Is anybody here from Edmonton, Alberta?
And if so, where are you getting your treatment done?

I had the same thing happen with me. I didn't have a gap before I went to get braces but shortly after getting braced, a gap opened between my front teeth. It stayed there until my first adjustment when my ortho put a powerchain on. He said it was to make room for my other teeth.. like he was bringi...

thanks for all the support! It sounds like what you've all experienced.. it's not as bad today but it's still really annoying. It drove me nuts yesterday though! It did help a little to bite on something a little harder because the pressure replaced that weird sensation. I can totally see how the so...

weird feeling o_0
I just got my bottom braces put on 2 days ago (had my uppers put on 6 weeks ago). I'm not in any pain like I was when I got the uppers.. maybe because my mouth is more used to the pressure, I'm not quite sure. But I do have this really weird sensation.. it's almost like my teeth feel like they're be...

talked to ortho..
I asked him about bringing my teeth down and he said that's what he's going to do YAAAAY!! he said the teeth beside the front ones are supposed to be a .5 mm shorter than the front whereas mine are 1.5 mm shorter. The bicuspids are supposed to be the same length so he's going to bring those down a b...

first adjustment
So I had my first adjustment today! It wasn't too painful. The only part that really hurt was when he put the powerchains on the front of my teeth. But it closed that gap within minutes! I was so stoked about that since I start school in two weeks. I got two powerchains on the front 4 teeth. He also...

It's not a huge difference.. I should really get the pics my ortho took so I can show you what I mean. I think if my front teeth were sanded down they might look too wide.. I had a consult with a cosmetic dentist and she told me that my other teeth were actually short whereas I always perceived my f...

bringing teeth down --- yayyyy pics!!
I've always loved those smiles where all of the front teeth are the same length and that's what I really want!! Except my front teeth are longer than the others and I was wondering if it's possible to lengthen the ones beside it with braces? Or would I have to go the veneers route? I hope not! I see...

question about arch
I was just wondering how an arch can be made wider? My ortho told me I have a narrow arch and he plans on making it wider. He mentioned bringing my teeth forward which would explain how it will get wider in the front but what about my molars? Would he have to use an expander? I'm not quite sure what...
