Well just got back from my 3rd adjustment. The Ortho removed the upper and lower wire and rebent it and then put it back, with new clear ligs. I have been told to stop wearing the elastics that were connect to my lower molars up to my top teeth and I now have a horrible elastic in a box formation th...

Hi Saki, I am also a 25 year old woman from the UK and have been in braces for nearly 3 months now. I have ceramic braces on the top and bottom. When I went to my orthodontist he gave me 3 options. Metal brackets, ceramic brackets or lingual (braces on the back of the teeth). As a very shy and self-...

I am more upset at the fact that Channel 4 have lost the rights to screen series 3 and 4 of Lost and they are replacing it with Ugly Betty! I am now gonna have to fork out for sky as sky one now have the rights, to try and work out what Lost is actually all about!

Don't give up on dating at all - just go with it, tell the person what you have had done and if they get funny about it they aren't worth it! I still feel insecure and ugly with these braces and feel like no one will ever love me - but i still get kissed in braces! just act normal and everything sho...

i have been in elastics for 3 weeks now to help correct my open bite and I have really noticed the difference. I wear them 24/7 (though I do take them out to brush and when eating sometimes). when i close my mouth my teeth meet where they never have before. and it really makes me feel a bit more pos...

I have an upper tongue thrust, which has contributed to my open bite. My ortho commented on it in my initial consultation but has never mentioned anything since. I was in braces 11 years ago when i was 14, but was never told that I had to wear retainers for the rest of my life, so with my upper tong...

Well I am just back from my 2nd adjustment. The Ortho changed my upper wire to a silver one so I now have matching wires on top and bottom arches, he didn't do anything with my lower arch just changed my clear ligs. I am now wearing elastics, which feel a bit weird at the moment but I am hoping in t...

I know what you mean, before I started all of this I never looked at anyones teeth but now I always notice people's teeth. And since I have been in braces I have seen a few adults out and about with them too. It always makes me feel better because in the dark times you think that you are the only on...

Hi Tracy Coming from a UK perspective - I have ceramic uppers and lowers at a total cost of £3,500. I paid a deposit and then I am paying off the rest of the amount over 18 months. It is a lot of money but by paying it off bit by bit it doesn't seem to be as much. I chose ceramics as I didn't want ...

I had a slight lisp when I had my braces put on but in time it does get better, though I always had a slight lisp on certain words before my braces because of my open bite. There are times when I still think I am talking funny, but a lot of people say that it is all in my head, which is probably is!...

I didn't need any extractions. I don't have any wisdom teeth - lucky me! My ortho just told me that he will file my teeth to make a little room if needed, which is fine by me. Having been in braces for a month and a half now I have already noticed gaps between my teeth, just from the archwire, that ...

Everyones adjustments are different. I had my first adjustment about 2 weeks ago and the ortho changed my lower arch wire, adjusted my upper archwire and put a wire tie on one of my teeth and changed the clear ligs on all of my brackets. I had pain for the next 3 days but after that it has been fine...
