I too did not know there were different strengths to chains. Mine must be of the weaker variety because this morning, I don't really feel any pain -- only pressure. I have to agree that the chains do make the braces more comfortable although the assistant told me that as the archwire brings my overa...

Oh, I agree completely and since I'm not even paying for my orthodontic treatment, I'm certainly not complaining. Just wondering what the big expense is -- maybe it's some part of the treatment that I haven't encountered yet.

Orthodontics Expense

I have only had my braces on since July 14th and today I went for my first adjustment. I have ceramics and regular metal. I'm not having any extractions or spacers or any of that fancy stuff. My teeth are widely spaced and I have an overbite, so as far as orthodontics are concerned, my problems are ...

Power Chains Question

I just got chains today and am wondering if and when my teeth are going to start to hurt. They ache a bit, but nowhere near enough to even take an ibuprofen. I've heard a lot of people on the board say how painful chains were at first, but they really did the job quickly. I'm certainly glad they are...

First Adjustment!

Had my first adjustment today. Got new archwires and powerchains on top and bottom. The doc said he wants to see me every 4-5 weeks. Wonder why such a short time?

Anyway, I'm excited. Seems like everything is going well!

Do you all take some ibuprofen before going for an adjustment or do you just wait to see how things go?

Adding Pics

I am having a difficult time figuring out how to add a picture to my post. How do you all do it?

Thanks!

Nice to Meet You!

Two teeth that never touched before are now getting to know each other! It's a weird feeling, but I'm so excited as I've only been braced for 4 weeks! :D

Thank you SO MUCH, KK! I have only been on this board for a few weeks, but I've learned a lot here and you've been a huge part of that.

THANK YOU!! :-88

What Is This?

Class II Division 1 malocclusion I just dug out some insurance papers that I hadn't seen before and that is what was written under "Diagnosis." I tried looking it up on the internet, but I just get a lot of orthodonotic websites obviously not intended for laypeople. I have an overbite, so ...
